ナガノ/モントリオールによる、透徹したマーラー

ソニー・クラシカルからの第2作。第1作のブルックナー『ロマンティック』に続くのは、マーラーの後期の傑作シンフォニー。マーラーが1908年に作曲した、声楽(2人の独唱)を伴う交響曲で、連作歌曲としての性格も持っている。ドイツの新しい世代を代表するバリトン、C.ゲルハーエルと、こちらも期待のテノール、クラウス・フローリアン・フォクトが、信じがたいほど美しい歌唱を聴かせます。ナガノのマーラー録音は、1999年に録音された「第3番」(ベルリン放送交響楽団)がありましたが、モントリオールとは今後チクルス化される予定です。

第1楽章の冒頭だけ、輸入盤を試聴してみた感想です。クラウス・フローリアン・フォクトのテノールは「商品説明」の「内容の紹介」にあるとおり、非常に美しく、柔和で奥行きのある素晴しい歌唱です。しかし、ヘルデンテノールの歌唱に慣れてしまった私の耳には異質に感じられ、生と死の狭間に思いをはせ、苦悩するマーラーの心情にマッチしていないのでは？と思ってしまいました。明るい声質のパヴァロッティがオテロをやっているときのような違和感をもってしまいました。クラウス・フローリアン・フォクトは非常によい歌い手なのですが、ペルゴレージの「スターバト・マーテル」のような、もっと別な曲で勝負したほうがよかったような気がします。
