Album Details

Japanese-only 16 disc (15 SHM-CDs + NTSC/Region 2 DVD) box set celebrating the Pop duo's 40th anniversary as recording artists. This box contains SHM-CD pressings of all 15 of their studio albums plus a bonus DVD. The SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players. Universal.

カーペンターズ結成４０周年を記念したＣＤ１５枚（高音質SHM-CD使用）＋ＤＶＤ１枚の永久保存盤ＢＯＸ。発売延期が何度もありやっと・・・やっと・・・発売されたという気持ちです。カーペンターズのオリジナルアルバムを３枚程持っていて、全部のオリジナルアルバムを聴きたいと思っていた矢先、このＢＯＸ発売を知り、購入しました。購入して良かったです。カレンのいつまでも聴きたくなる歌声を心ゆくまで堪能できます。しかも高音質で。今回のＢＯＸは、本仕立てなっておりその中に解説・歌詞・対訳付。リチャードの手書きコメント付写真も有り嬉しい限りです。
このＢＯＸの発売の後には、オリジナルアルバム/ライブアルバム等が紙ジャケットでＳＨＭ−ＣＤの発売が控えています。今回のこのＢＯＸは日本独自発売との事ですので、日本でのライブアルバム「LIVE IN JAPAN」も入れて欲しかったです。あと思ったのは、このＢＯＸには、カーペンターズのデイスコグラフィーがありません。こんな高価で記念的なＢＯＸにデイスコグラフィーが無いなんでちょっと信じられません。製作側の方へ疑問を感じます。また発売当時のライナーノーツも載せても良かったのでは・・・。
・・・とはいえ、カレンの歌声に耳を傾け音楽の喜びで心満たしたいＢＯＸです。

予約してから、数ヶ月が経ち、本日ようやく届きました。最初の発売日からもかなりの遅れでした。前回35周年を買いそびれたので喜んでいたのですが、残念ながら、紙ジャケットのセットではなく、なんか通販の製品みたいでかなりガックリです。8月にはデフジャケなども添付された紙ジャケ盤が出るそうで、そちらを買い揃えたかったですね。また特製のブックレットなので結構かさばります。解説書は、通常あるような国内のライターが書いたものはなくリチャードの解説だけです。ただ、写真が結構あり少し楽しめましたが。音質については、今回のSHMが初めてのCDでの購入なので、過去盤との比較は出来ません。過去、SpookyToothのアルバムでは特に改善はなかったので、なんの期待もしてません。内容については、13枚目の「SweetSixteen」は今まで聞いたことのない曲があり良かったです。が、曲の解説の翻訳に誤植がありました。4曲目の翻訳はなく、そっくり5曲目の翻訳がコピーされてました。

先日、やっと購入しましたが、あまり期待しすぎなくて良かったと思ってます。
まず、セット内に後1冊入りそうなスペースがあり、非常に気になりました。
もしかして、何か抜けてるんじゃない？と思ってしまったぐらい。

ボックスからCDを取り出すとき、下手すると中のディスクが落下してしまい、少々焦りました。ちょっとした落下防止みたいな工夫が欲しかったのと、写真解説のコメントに誤訳もありました。
期待しすぎてたら、('・ω・｀)ｶﾞｯｶﾘ…どころではなかったかも。

他の方も書かれてますが、写真が良かったので、その点はプラス評価です。
封筒ジャケの復刻があればなお更良かったのですがね。
