1stのようなthis is how a heart breaksやlonely no moreのような唄は無いですね。でもちゃんと新しい音はあります。さすがRob Thomasって感じの素晴らしい曲が詰まっています。聴くだけで元気がでますね。
自分はCD派なんですが、iPodとかで音楽を聴いてる人は是非、プレイリストにHer Diamondsだけ入れるんじゃなくて、アルバム全体を通して聴いて欲しいです。捨て曲がないとか、そんなレベルじゃないです。
　こんなにキャッチーなのに全然飽きがこない、それどころか聴けば聴く程良いアルバムだと思える。それは彼が曲作りに対して真摯な姿勢をとっている証拠だと思います。
　ポップで入りやすいと思うので、Rob Thomasの曲まだ聞いた事無いって人はこのアルバムから入るのもお勧めです。是非聴いてみて下さい。

4.0 out of 5 stars わざわざソロアルバムにした意味はあるのか。, 2009/7/19
ソロなので、当然matchbox twentyとは違うわけですが、なんとなく、前作よりもソロ活動とバンドでの音の垣根が低くなったような気がします。ソロの１ｓｔよりもソロっぽい感じがしません。中盤あたりは特にそう感じます。

ここまで垣根が低いなら、折角だからmatchbox twentyで聞きたいなぁという曲もありまして、『Real World'09』は僕にとってその際たるものです。ソングライティングがロブなので、曲は「あー、ロブだなぁ。ロブが書いてるんだねぇ」という当たり前の感想が浮かぶのですが、如何せん演奏がmatchbox twentyとしてではないので、若干燃焼不良といった感じがしました。


もぅ、ここまでくると時々早口で歌うのがmatchbox twenty, 一貫してちょっとユックリ目なのがソロと、そう思ってます。他の方が書いている「疾走感がない」というのは僕にとってはそれかなぁと。

もっとソロソロっとしたアルバムを聞きたかったのですが、曲はどれも良いので星４つです。

追記
4曲目の『someday』が胸を刺すようになってきました。
matchbox twentyの『unwell』とはまた違う感じのゆっくり目の曲ですが、この一曲の為だけでも買ってよかったと思います。
2時間ずーっとこの曲だけリピートして聞いてしまいましたが、まだ聞き足りない感じです。

初め聴いたとき、一抹の不安を覚えたのですが、余計な心配でした。
僕はしっかり彼のメロディに酔わせていただきましたよ。
★５つにすれば良かったと後悔しています。

　う〜ん、ソロだと、どうしてこうなっちゃうんだろうなぁ。確かに、いつものM・サーレティックのプロデュースの元、よく練りこまれたキャッチャーな、らしい楽曲がズラリだし、つい最近もクラプトンと来日した、A・ラボリエルJr.やK・アーノルフ、L・カストロといった辣腕ミュージシャンをバックに、完成度の高いロックアルバムではある。けどねぇ･･･。不思議なもんでバンドでも、ソングライター兼ボーカリストっていう役割なのに、ソロになるとキレというか“疾走感”みたいなものが失われちゃうんだよねぇ。

　思うにロブは器用すぎちゃうんじゃないかな。だからいろんな要素を貪欲に取り込んで、己の表現領域を広げようともがいちゃう感じ。反対にバンドメンバーは、きっと不器用で武骨なんだろうね。それがかえって、バンドとして一本筋が通る結果になってきたんじゃないかな。ロブから見たら、そこらへんが不満なんだろうけど、聞いてる方からしたら、ソロのロブに不満なんだよなぁ。。。決して悪くはないんだけど、もう一つ響くものがない、そんな感じです。
