マジンガー世代の私にとって鉄腕アトムは名前や歌こそ有名であれど
ほとんど馴染みのない作品です。
大人になって喫茶店や友人宅で手塚先生による「アトム」の漫画本を
初めて読んだ時、「あれ？この話、知ってるぞ？」というデ・ジャブ
体験を感じたことを強烈に覚えています。

それもそのはず。
私の「記憶」は全てジェッターマルスの記憶だったのですよ！
よく似た姿、そっくりの誕生経緯、マルスの物語の記憶が光と影の
逆転のごとく、本家？のアトムを初めて読んだ時に蘇っていた次第です。
マルスが初めて学校に行き、委員長選挙で適当？に投票してしまう場面、
あるいはシャーロック・ホームズもどきのサイボーグ探偵（笑）の
エピソードは本家アトムからの抜粋だったんですね。
その他、燃料代がやたらかかってしまうため、廃棄を恐れて転校を
繰り返す旧式のロボット少女の話はとてもよく覚えています。
当時、すごく胸がキュンとなっちゃいましたねぇ。。。

最後に。僕にとって清水マリさんの声はアトムでもベロでもなく、
このマルス以外のなにものではないということを力説しておきます。

リメイクや新作の手塚アニメを観ても、やっぱり手塚先生ご本人が関わっていないとな…あの手塚マインド溢れるジェッターマルスが観たい…と常々思っていました。
手塚プロに勤めている知人にも「ジェッターマルス」のDVDは出ないのですか?と会うたびに聞いたりしていましたが…

今回のニュースに心躍らせて、発売をワクワクして楽しみに待っています!!

長い間封印扱いされていた「ジェッターマルス」。もう2度と見られないものと、薄れゆく記憶と共に諦めていましたが…遂に奇跡の全話DVD化です!マルスの誕生した2015年に間に合いました! 製作の紆余曲折や、声優陣・手塚キャラが出演しているせいか、よくアトムの二番煎じだと言われます。しかし、旧虫プロスタッフが数多く参加し、当時の新しい技術や表現を駆使して、アトムを超えるんだとの意気込みが、作品からあふれていたと思います。おすすめは、アディオス編の第23話「さすらいのロボット」と第26話「帰って来たアディオス」、そして最終回です。この機会に再評価の機運が高まる事を願っています。
