近年ＡＳＫＡの描く詞曲、そのテーマに魅力を感じる。デビュー後、様々な切り口で多くの世界観を描いてきたＡＳＫＡ。そろそろネタも尽きるのでは…との心配もよそに、５０代になった今もまた新しい扉を開けてくれる。作詞に多大な時間をかける（かかる？）ＡＳＫＡによる言葉は、一行一行に強さと重みを感じられ、そして優しい。その行間の透明な言葉すら心に響いてくるようだ。

昔のパワフルな歌声も魅力だが、年相応の表現力のあるヴォーカルに、最近のＪ−ＰＯＰにはない巧さを感じる。例え売上が伸びなくとも、多くの人に聴いてもらいたい。埋もれるにはもったいない曲だと思う。

ASKAにしては比較的低音域中心の楽曲で、テンポと音階のバランスが非常によい。カラオケで歌えばわかるが、この間合いはそう簡単に真似はできない。サビがガツンといくと思いきや後には引かない絶妙さ。この深みは、テンポが良い、ノリが良い、共感できる歌詞である、といったＪＰＯＰの売れる条件とはほど遠いがそれだけ一層楽みがいがある曲だ。

CHAGE&ASKAを活動休止してからの初の作品。一度は解散に向けて話が動いていた中で決まったリリースであり、この作品にはこれからのASKAの決意や想いが込められているのが感じられる。曲の雰囲気としてはアルバム「kicks」に近く無機質で硬派でダークな印象と言えばわかりやすいだろうか。お世話にも聴きやすいとはいえずメロディーとしてのキャッチーさはないが、ASKAの音楽に対する真摯な態度や情熱が激しいエッジとなって突き刺さり、激しい魅力と新鮮な刺激を放っている楽曲となっている。歌詞に関してはこれは私の憶測でしかないが、活動停止に対してのファンに対する思いも暗に潜ませているのではないかと感じている。カップリングは正にCHAGE&ASKAについての想いが綴られいる。またいつか二人が並ぶ日を期待しながら、まずはASKAの新しい世界に期待したい。
