とても冬に合う、かつ山崎氏らしい楽曲でした。
今回も詞だったりハープだったりとうまいこと使ってます。
彼にはめずらしい冬の歌なのでファンでも割と新鮮に感じられるかも。
少なくとも自分はそうでした。

DVDも充実していて全7曲、分数にして約40分。
そして「おとどけ」をテーマにした凝ったパッケージと、ずいぶんと手が込んでます。
楽曲の完成度も相まって
シングルにしては高めなお値段ですけどこれなら文句なしでしょう。
ファンならずともオススメ！

新曲１「Heart of Winter」、鋭すぎるハープの節回しと粋なシンセベースに思わず７０年代前半のスティーヴィー・ワンダーを思い出しました。一度聴いたらすぐ覚えてしまうメロディーなのに、いつまでも心に残る、そういう歌を書くのってとても難しいのですが、これはそんな曲のひとつ。簡単にやってくれちゃいます。

ところでこれ、“新曲CD、オマケにDVD”です。けれど、絶対只者ではありません、このDVD。内容は、今年８月大阪でのオーガスタキャンプでの彼のバンド（４人編成）の約３５分の演奏。１曲目「Opening Instrumental」、いきなり僕は（あまりに唐突で恐縮ですが）第二期ジェフ・ベックグループのライブを聞いているかのような錯覚に陥りました。ストラトGの山崎氏の演奏は当時のベックのようだし、ウーリッツァー音色のエレピを豪快に弾く中村氏はまるでマックス・ミドルトン。“とうが立った“音楽好きにはこんな我田引水がままあるので、こんな書き方を大目に見て頂きたいのですが、とにかくここで聴けるのは極上の音楽です。そして僕には、彼らは硬軟双方の楽曲を自在にこなす、日本でもトップクラスのロックバンドに思えてなりません。演奏の素晴らしさに多少圧倒され気味（？）な観客を、何気なく気遣って声をかけ盛り上げていく山崎氏、人柄の良さがにじみでています。

これは、すごい。透明のビニール包装を破る前から、ただならぬオーラが。実際に、包装を破ると、このギフトボックス仕様のパッケージがすごい。隅々までこだわったデザインといい特殊プリントといい、「すごい！」の一言。見ていて飽きません。

そして、ボックスを開けてさらにビックリ。そう来ましたか。という感じです。思わずニヤけてしまいました。実際にまさやんが、自宅にあったものにＣＤを入れて送って（贈って）くれたような、本当にそんな感じの仕掛けが待ってます。歌詞カードも作り込んであってとても面白いし、ディスクのデザインも抜かりなしです。

それにしても、これをシングルでやりますか、という感じです。アルバムまでこのネタを取っておいてもよかったんじゃないかと思うくらい細かい。普段シングルは敬遠している人にも実際に手に取って、見て、聴いて欲しいです。

肝心の曲は、両曲とも懐かしい感じのメロディで、『Heart of〜』は、これを聴いて優しい気持ちになってね。という、まさやんからのメッセージ付きの贈り物という感じです。ＤＶＤも豪華な内容で、オーガスタキャンプの映像が、おまけＤＶＤとしては多めに入ってます。

ちょっとお高めの値段も、この気合の入り方だと納得という感じです。実際に誰かに贈ってみてもいいかもしれませんね。
