2008年9月10日リリース。The Art of Peace Foundationが世界中のミュージシャンに呼びかけ、チベットの人々とダライ・ラマの平和への訴えを音楽で支持を表明し、チベットの直面している状況への認知を広めるために誕生したのがこのアルバムである。ジョン・レノンが先鞭をつけた音楽での意思表示というものが、このアルバムには脈々と受け継がれている。

また、そのトラックに目をやればレア・トラックが充満したお宝のようなアルバムとも言える。ぼくがこの中で特にウルトラ・レア・トラックだと思うのは、ルパート・ハインの『THE HEART OF THE MATTER』だ。『イミュニティ』のような大傑作アルバムを発表して存在感を発揮していた彼が、第一線を離れて久しかったが、健在振りを示してくれた。その1トラックだけでも聴く価値がある。

時代を真摯に直視する眼、それを正しく見つめることを喚起する一枚だ。

ディスク2の10曲目トゥ・ヒールが店舗内で流れていたのを聴いて本アルバムを購入した。
SF映画「サンシャイン2057」内で使われていた曲で、以前から何の曲か気になっていたからだ。

本アルバムは「普遍的な責任・地球規模の責任」というダライ・ラマの信条に基づき設立されてアート・オブ・ピース財団が中心になり作製したもの。

政治的な信条は特にはないが、北京オリンピック開幕前夜に書かれたという解説書を読みながらチベットで起こっていることを改めて知った。
これまで中国の不当な侵略により100万人以上のチベット人が命を落としているとは‥

世界の有名アーチストが参加しているので聴いているだけで楽しいが、各曲とも平和への願いがこもった優しいサウンドでとても癒される。
特にスザンヌ・ヴェガのソング・オブ・サンドがお気に入りだ。

衝動買いであったがこうしたアルバムとの出会いは、人との出会いのようで有難い。
本アルバムを聴きながら、平和は何より大切だと感じる‥。

尚、日本版のみ難波章浩のマイ・ハート・フィールズ・ソー・フリーが収録されている。
