オリヴァー・マイ技術中尉以下、ジオン軍第603技術試験隊は、試作兵器の実験部隊である。宇宙世紀0079年、衛星軌道上で新型モビルスーツ「ヅダ」の最終試験を行う第603技術試験隊。ヅダは、連邦軍打倒の切り札として多大な期待を集めていた。そんなおり、地球上で連邦軍がオデッサ作戦により反攻を開始。第603技術試験隊もまた、地上より脱出してくる友軍の救出に向かうが……。

偽りのゴーストファイターが駆ける。
プロパガンダに利用されるだけの哀しい機体が･･･。
だが最後に見せたその真の姿は･･･。

悲劇の機体ヅダのお話です。

CGの所為か宇宙空間の恐怖と地球の美しさは格別です。
漆黒の闇と青い大気の狭間で繰り広げられる死闘、そして邂逅。
無重力空間での戦闘は必見。
余談ですが、ジオン＆連邦双方のプロパガンダ合戦は見物です。
WW2を知っている方は思わずニヤリとします。
(やりすぎ感もあるが･･･ｗ)

イグルーも3作目。
作画も安定し、CG映像の違和感、動きの固さはだいぶ緩和され、アニメとしては
見ていてあまり不快感を感じないレベルになった。
カメラワークなどの演出もドラマチックに。
大作映画のようにはいかないが、一つの目標点に到達した作と言える。

宇宙空間の表現はCG作品であるイグルーにまさに適任であり、重量感の表現や
メカの素早い挙動など第一話にはない要素を加え、それだけで十分見ごたえのある
物に仕上がっている。
賛否はあるが、決して悪い仕上がりではない。

ゴーストファイターと言うマニアックな部分を、ガンダムの世界を借りて映像に出した点は
評価大です。

ただ、やはり演出（話自体）が旧作版の足を引っ張ってしまう最大の欠点では？
最後のオチがどうしても稚拙に見えてしまうのですよ。個人のエゴと言うか。
関わる人間、皆戦死ってオチはちょっとイグルー全体で考え直してほしいかな。
なので、マイナス１です。
