ヘミシンクは、70年代にロバートモンローが開発した自己変革のプログラムで、ある特殊な音を聴かせることで脳をトリップさせ、幽体離脱を起こさせたり、死者と会話をしたり、死後の世界へ行ったりできるという、なかなか刺激的なシロモノである。終末医療の先駆者として有名なキューブラー・ロス博士が大きな影響を受けたことでも知られている。

これまで本でしか読んだことがなく一度聴いてみたいと思っていたが、ＣＤが発売されているのを見つけてすぐに買ってみた。

本作は「幽体離脱」ではなく「快眠」へ誘うのためのサウンドである。基本はホワイトノイズで、長い周期のうねりが45分間、ずっと続く。ただそれだけである。これをヘッドホンで聞きながら眠ると寝つきがよいか？というと、試した限りではさほど劇的な効果はなかった。が、ただただノイズを聞き続けるのは意外に心が落ち着くようだ。ヘミシンクサウンドの効果という点では期待したほどではなかったが、筆者はこのＣＤ、嫌いではない。
