光宗さんが自ら
総花的なあれやこれやの音楽ジャンルを網羅するのではなく、かなり絞り込まれたサウンドの幅の中で微妙なニュアンスを表現するということは、作曲家としてみればある意味難易度の高い仕事でした。
と、述べております。そういったハードルの高い仕事を楽しんで作られたのが今回のサントラです。劇中で使用されなかった楽曲も含まれており、あさっての方向。という作品のコンセプトアルバムとしても、十分聴き応えがあり、楽しめるアルバムに仕上がっています。

　このアルパムの作・編曲者である光宗信吉氏が寄せたライナーノートを読めば、作品
のできあがった経緯や方向性が簡潔に、そして手に取るように分かるのですが、それは
アルバムを入手されてからのお楽しみということで。

　一般的なアニメのサントラとしては珍しく、収録されている楽曲の多くがピアノをメインと
した「ニューエイジ・ミュージック」という方向性でまとめられています。ヒロ兄と椒子さんが出
会ったのは、アメリカのとある古い街のキャンパスという設定でしたが、アメリカでの過去
の出来事だけでなく、いま生活している日本でも、ジョージ・ウィンストンの四季シリーズを
彷彿とさせる調べに乗って物語は進みます。

　血のつながらない兄妹と元彼女の、微妙なバランスの上に成り立つ関係という、ともす
れば日本的情緒どっぷりなテーマにも関わらず、透明で、優しく、そして暖かいピアノの音
がすっぽり包み込むことによって、最終話まで清々しい気持ちで見ることができました。
必要以上にウエットにならなかったのは、もちろん光宗氏の手腕とニューエイジ・ミュー
ジックに絞り込んだおかげです。

　サントラとしての完成度も高く、ジャケットやレーベル面のアートワークも、からださんと
椒子さんのモチーフを効果的に使った、とても素敵な１枚です。

アニメの放送中からＯＰ・ＥＤ・ＢＧＭともに曲が印象的で評価の高かった「あさっての方向。」から、待ちに待ったサントラの登場です。
アニメのサントラといえば、劇伴と言われるよう、シーンに合わせるよう想定されて作られているので、同じ作家であっても意外と曲調がバラバラだったりするものですが、このアルバム、「あさっての方向。」のＢＧＭは違います。
アニメを見た時から思っていたのですが、作品と一緒にＢＧＭも全体のコンセプトが統一されていて、一つ一つの曲に繋がりを感じます。流れで聴くとさらに良いです。
単にアニメのサントラと言うには惜しい逸品です。ジャケットも素晴らしいです。
前のレビューやアルバムのキャッチコピーでも書かれている通り、アニメ知らない人でも、光宗信吉氏によるニューエイジ・ミュージック・コンセプトアルバムとして十分楽しめます。
ジョージ・ウインストンとか好きな人にもオススメです。
