米国NBCの人気オーディション番組「America's Got Talent」初登場時に披露した「And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going」における驚異的な歌唱力で、一夜にして大反響を巻き起こしたシンデレラガールの1stアルバム。私も配信映像を目の当たりにして鳥肌が立ったクチで早速本CDを入手した訳だが、先ずバラエティに富んでいると言うよりはあれもこれもとゴチャ混ぜに詰め込まれた、一貫性のない楽曲群に面食らい拍子抜けしてしまった。4,9,10などは単調な展開で魅力に乏しく、8のゴージャスな最新サウンドは如何にも粗製濫造気味。3もR.ケリーの大ヒット曲のカバーであるものの凡曲で、12に至っては明らかにマライア・キャリーの「All I Want for Christmas Is You」の二番煎じであり、ビアンカにとって役不足であるばかりでなく新旧歌姫を愚弄するジャンク品だ。数十年に一人の天才の記念すべきデビューCDだからこそ、制作陣には商売っ気を押し殺して真摯に彼女の資質を引き出すべく取り組んで欲しかった。猛省を促したい。

翻って、邦題「恋するデビー」でお馴染みのデビー・ブーンのカバー11は文句なしに素晴らしい。小学6年生という実年齢に対する畏怖の念を超えて、押し寄せる感動の波に時間が止まる。5,6はビアンカの力量を思い知らされる難曲かつドラマティックなバラード。軽やかでクールな2はJ-POP的な佳曲で我が国でも大いに受け入れられるだろう。ベット・ミドラーのカバー1は流石に背伸びしすぎの感があるが、その蕾は必ずや大輪の薔薇を咲かせるに違いない。出世作7はブロードウェイ・ミュージカル「Dreamgirls」の挿入歌。あのダイアナ・ロス＆シュープリームスの出世街道物語を題材としたトニー賞受賞作の第一幕のクライマックスで歌われる米国では人口に膾炙した名曲だが、21世紀に突如出現した天才少女の代名詞存在として再び流布してしまった事実にポピュラー音楽の歴史性の深さを感じてしまう。以上、楽曲的に不満が残るものの上質な一枚に聴き惚れつつ、ビアンカの成長過程をこれからも追い続けていきたい！

ビアンカに興味があるのなら、まずはどうにかしてNBCの「America's Got Talent」初登場時に披露した「And I Am Telling You, I'm Not Going」の映像を見るべきです。この映像は後世に語り継がれるはずのオーディション映像です。この衝撃があまりにも強いために、今回のCDは満足には程遠いものに映ります。
しかし、本来の美しさの半分でも出せれば聴くに値する声ですので、製作陣の不甲斐なさに思いを致しつつビアンカに酔うのもいいかもしれません。
年齢が年齢ですので、今後の内面の成長によって更に大きく飛躍するものと思われます。
CD購入はあまり勧めません。レンタルもしくはネット配信で十分と思われます。

YOUTUBEでビアンカのオーディションを見たときには、かなりの衝撃でした。表現力も歌唱力も申し分ない。そんなわけでＣＤを衝動買いしてしまいました。レビューでもあまり曲がよくないということで承知してはいたのですが、買って聞いたとたん、かなりがっくり来ました。どうか私のように衝動買いはしないように。ビアンカの歌唱力に問題があるわけではありません。彼女の魅力を最大限に発揮されていないところが非常に残念です。またオーディションのときの印象がかなり強く、アルバムの曲はわりとしっとりとした大人の雰囲気の曲が多いです。少し背伸びしすぎなような気がします。若くてフレッシュな曲やオーディションのときのようなもっとインパクトのある曲がもっとほしかったなと思います。２番から６番は本当にありふれた曲ばかりでビアンカファンの私でも飽きてしまうほどです。そして７番の曲はあんなにしっとりさせる必要ない。皆さんの言うように製作者は努力不足。今回は残念でしたが、まだ若いのでこれからに期待します。
