独演会に足を運んだ大ファンとしては本当に残念でなりません。
米朝一門の王道だと思っていましたから。
待ちに待ったDVDですが、熱演ぶりは伺えるものの出来はもうひとつと言うしかありません。
贔屓目で星４つにしておきます。
吉朝落語は、こんなもんじゃあありません。
次回作の発売を待ちます。

星５個の理由・・・１.桂吉朝のＤＶＤがとにかく発売されたこと。２.吉朝の映像が多く残された「平成紅梅亭」（よみうりテレビ）のＤＶＤ化に道を開いた点を高く評価して。

　しかし、桂吉朝のＤＶＤとしては、せいぜい星４個。『天災』『蛸芝居』の２演目ともかなり水準は高いが、吉朝の実力はこの程度ではないだろう。
　『蛸芝居』も、ＢＳ−ｉ「落語研究会」の追悼番組の方が、はるかに出来が良かった。このＤＶＤの『蛸芝居』は1997年、「落語研究会」は2000年収録だから無理もない。吉朝は飛躍の途上で早逝した落語家であり、
新しい映像ほど芸のレベルは高いのが当然なのである。本当に「厳選」したのか？…

　しかし本当は、「厳選」する必要はない。「平成紅梅亭」「落語研究会」で吉朝が演じた全演目と、それ以外で各放送局が持っている良質の映像を、「２０枚組」とか「３０枚組」の「全集」にして発売すればいいのである。
　採算が心配なら、売れる数だけ限定版にして、損をしない値段を付ければいい。本当にファンが望むものを出してほしい。

桂吉朝は間違いなく上方落語の大看板となるはずの大器であった。故にその早逝を惜しむ声は少なくない。吉朝自身も、ある時期を境に米朝落語の後継者として己の芸を磨くことに専念したため、落語会には多数出演したが、映像として残っているものは多くない。しかし、ＴＢＳ落語研究会と読売テレビ平成紅梅亭には数少ない吉朝の貴重な映像が残されており、今回のＤＶＤの一部も平成紅梅亭の映像を収録したものである。
吉朝の芸にハズレはない。その時期その時期で常に最高の芸を演じていた。しかし、その芸は常に進化し続けていた。早逝直前までライブで吉朝の芸を見続けた者としては、今回収録された映像が、短い生涯だった彼の最高の芸ではないことが非常に残念である。このような芸が吉朝の芸の真髄であったと後世に残ることは残念でならない。選者が、なぜこのような芸を収録したのか疑問である。
ともあれ、ＤＶＤが発売されたことに意義があると思い星４つにしたが、今後、選者なる者が取捨選択した選集などではなく、全ての映像を収録した全集を発売して欲しい。採算面で難しいのであれば、ＢＯＸセットでセット数限定でもいい。吉朝全集の発売を望んでいる落語ファンは決して少なくない。完売は保証できる。
