ものものしい雰囲気で始めるM-1「The End」は短いながらも、このアルバムがどういうものかを公然とアピールしています。だって曲名がThe Endですからね。一発目から終わりですから。さらに続くのがM-2「Dead!」。これは前作にはなかったかなりポップな曲です。個人的には大好きですね。前作からの進化をまじまじと感じさせてくれるM-3「This Is How I Disappear」とM-4「The Sharpest Lives」。こんなにもノリが良く、それでいてヘビーでかっこいい曲はマイケミだから出来るんだと思います。たった四曲でマイケミの変化と成長が感じられます。喜ばしい限りです。そしてやってくるのはファーストシングルのM-5「Welcome To The Black Parade」。初めて聴いた時に思ったのは、「Queenみたい」って事でした。つまり、壮大でダイナミック、そしてドラマチック。一曲の中に山と谷がしっかりとあります。それは本当に素晴らしい構成の上で成り立っています。もはや感動的です。さらにM-9「Cancer」はピアノを十分に生かしたバラードになっていて、今までにない感動的なマイケミが楽しめました。まるでJetの「Look What You've Done」を連想させるようなロックな楽曲でした。よく言えば変化、悪く言えば変わってしまったマイケミですが、個人的には最高の成長だと思っています。コーラスも前作以上に素晴らしいし、前作と変わらないマイケミらしさも残っているわけですから、不満の一つも見つかりません。できれば多くの方に堪能して欲しいです、マイケミの成長を。

HRは好きでもパンクロックはいまいち。そんな私ですが、CDショップ店頭でかかっていたWELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADEのPVには不思議に魅入られました。
ドラマティックなメロディラインは非常に美しく、ゴシック系ホラーの映像演出もムードがありましたが、それ以上に彼らが余りにも一生懸命に歌い、演奏しているように見えたからかもしれません。
そして購入後、毎日繰り返しアルバムを聴いていますが、疾走感あふれるナンバーやドラマティックなナンバーに載せて、やはり彼らは何かを懸命に叫び、伝えようとしている気がします。

日本版とは異なるボーナストラック（但しタイトル不明）も収録されていますし、一ヵ月後には日本版も出るようですが、それとは別に今すぐ購入するのに値する輸入版です。
歌詞に邦語訳がないからこそ、本来の歌詞カードのみを眺めながら、彼らのメッセージをじっくり聴いて味わってみるのも、また大きな価値のあることだと思います。

マイケミのデビュー2枚目のフルアルバム。
今作は、死をテーマにしたコンセプトアルバムだ。

雑誌でインタビューも読み、私はかなり期待を持って買った。
購入後初めて聴いた感じでは、Dead!のキャッチーさ、
Welcome To The Black Paradeのシングルとしての完成度の高さが印象に残った。
他にも、M-6,10,13がお気に入りだ。
歌詞も良い。深い。是非意味を考えて欲しい。

しかし・・・曲単体としては、少しポップになったせいか、
聴きやすい反面、やはり飽きが来るのが早くなってしまった気がした。
曲の構成が理解しやすいのである。
それと、疾走感が減った。これが一番残念であった。

全体的にアルバムとしての完成度はあがったかに思う。
だけども、もう少しトゲがあっても、私は良かった。
若さ故の荒々しさ、葛藤が、もっとグチャグチャのままで出てきて欲しかった。
