   4話中3話にウルトラ兄弟、アストラが登場するという、たいそう豪華な構成となった「ウルトラマンレオ」VOL.9。シリーズも第3クール終盤を迎え、視聴率対策のためウルトラ兄弟やアストラとの共演が頻繁に行われるようになったわけだが、それはそれで子どもたちにとってはうれしいプレゼントであったことは間違いない。
   第34話「ウルトラ兄弟永遠の誓い」では、「帰ってきたウルトラマン」の主役である郷秀樹（団次郎＝現・時朗）が、変身能力を失ったウルトラセブンのために怪獣ボール・セブンガーを届けに地球へ到来。イメージ・ショットながらレオ、セブン、帰ってきたウルトラマンのスリーショット実現に感動。ところがストーリーのキーとなる怪獣セブンガーのデザインのひどさにため息。さらにセブンガーは1分間しか行動できないことに加えて、再登場までに50時間を要するというトホホな設定に涙。
   33話、36話にアストラが登場するも、いずれも顔見せ程度。なお35話「おいらは怪獣大将だ！」には、「帰ってきたウルトラマン」でMATの丘隊員を演じた桂木美加が女教師役で出演。変わらぬクールな美貌とハスキーな声を披露した。こちらは大きなお友達用のブレゼント。（斉藤守彦）

子供の頃見たレオの中でもアシュラン編は特に印象に残る一編。アシュランに金属マスクをはめられた郷秀樹(新マン)の姿は衝撃的だった。
アシュランの顔もプレッシャー星人と並ぶ不気味さだったし。ただ空から地上に降り立つ際の間抜けさは最高!怪獣ボール・セブンガーもこの回のみの登場だが存在感十分の名キャラ。新マンとレオが共に戦う姿も見れるし、密度の濃い作品。
しかし新マンは「タロウ」ではドロボンにペシャンコにされるし、今回は鉄マスクだし、なんかかわいそうだな。手袋とブーツが赤じゃなかったのがまだ救いだけど。

第３３話はゲンとダンはパトロール中巨大な目を発見。それを追いますが、団地で消失します。やがて団地では次々に怪奇現象が起こります・・この作品は怪奇大作戦を彷彿させるホラー仕立てになっています。しかしアクマニヤ星人て何しに来たんだ・・アストラがまたまたいい所で参上します。第３４話は新マンはセブンガーの入った怪獣ボールを届けに地球に向かいますが、それを狙って怪獣アシュランが新マンを襲います。新マンは瀕死の状態で地球にたどり着きます・・この作品では団次郎さんが活躍しますが、変なマスクをはめられ殆どセリフありません・・しかもクソガキにキモイって言われ石投げられてるし・・あと無茶苦茶強いのにここしか見れないセブンガーの活躍は必見です。第３５話はガキ大将宮坂少年は宇宙から落ちてきた坪を拾い家へ持ち帰ります。そこには怪獣タイショーが閉じ込められていて、出してくれたら願いを叶えるといい外へ出すのですが・・・この作品は怪獣と少年のお馬鹿な友情を描いたほのぼのとした作品です。でも学校破壊してるし・・白石冬実さんのアテレコが絶妙です。第３６話はアトランタ星から地球人が帰還。それは防衛軍長官の娘綾子のフィアンセ内田でした。内田はまんまとＭＡＣに入隊。しかしゲンはそれがアトランタ星人の変身と見破っていました・・この作品は綾子を思うと星人を倒せないゲンの葛藤,星人とダンの心理駆け引きが見所の秀作です。またまたアストラがいい所で参上します。おいしい奴です。特典映像はスチール写真と貴重な解説です。

というわけで、収録されている４話のうち３話が客演エピソード、１話が
ギャグのエピソードである。

３３話、ホラー話。何気にアクマニア星人はかなり強い怪獣として描かれている。
レオが１ｖｓ１でここまで追い込まれた怪獣は中盤ではかなり珍しい。

３４話は帰ってきたウルトラマンが客演、セブンガーの凄まじいまでの強さ、そしてレオ、セブン、帰ってきたウルトラマンの
３人がイメージ映像でも見得を切るシーンはカッコいい。

３５話はギャグ。これに関しては学校壊したのはやり過ぎなような・・・。
怪獣に優しいレオが見れる一風変わったエピソードか。

３６話はレオで幾度となく描かれてきた異星人同士の恋愛というテーマに遂に１つの決着がつけられる。
百子からゲンに伝えられるストレートなゲンへの愛情、メンタルな面に孤独を常に抱えていた彼にはどれほどの救いになっていたことだろうか・・・？
そして汚い策略を駆使したアトランタ星人にはアストラまで駆けつけ獅子の兄弟の怒りの猛攻が・・・。
