アフリカ・マラウイ。たったひとりの日本人青年から始まった、エイズ予防 啓発の歌。
エイズの感染拡大防止を願い、アフリカ南東部のマラウイ共和国で日本人青年が歌う曲が注目を集めている。作詞し、歌っているのは国際協力機構(JICA)の元青年海外協力隊員、山田耕平。CDを販売していないにも関わらず、マラウイでは音楽番組のヒットチャートで1位となり、レコード大賞にもノミネート。日本ではTBS系TV「ブロードキャスター」で紹介され、大きな感動と話題を呼んでいる。チェワ語で「愛してる」という意の曲名『ディマクコンダ』。彼女を愛するが故にエイズ検査へ行き、結果が不幸にも陽性。彼が悩んだすえ彼女に別れを告げる。そんな彼を最終的に彼女が受け入れるというラブストーリーを通じて、愛しているからこそパートナーのためにも勇気を持ってエイズ検査を受けようと呼びかける内容で、マラウイの母国語・チェワ語で歌われている。アフリカの遠い国で日本人青年が作った歌は、現代社会に暮らす我々にとっても身近になりつつある深刻なエイズ問題について、陽気なメロディに乗せた温かみのあるメッセージとともに優しく教えてくれている。多くの共感を生んだビデオクリップを収録したDVD付2枚組。

HIVはじめ感染症に対する日本の対応は極端に遅れている。知っている人は知っているが、知らない人はこの現実を全く知らない。日本は先進国のなかで唯一HIVが増え続けている国で、その勢いに歯止めがかかる気配すらない。行政、マスコミともに啓蒙活動には消極的で一部のドクターやNPOが細々と活動を続けているのが現状です。この『ディマクコンダ』は様々な啓蒙活動の方法がある中でひたすら鮮やかな光を放つ。このノリがある一青年から始まり、大きなムーブメントになるわけですから嬉しくなってしまいます。いよいよCD（DVD付き）の発売。是非、みなさんも購入してみてください。

山田耕平さんを初めて知ったのはTVのニュース番組で知りました。それまでは全くと言っていいほどHIVに関心がありませんでした。私も山田さんと同じ27歳…日本の為に、世界の為に日々活動している山田さんが輝いてみえました。

エイズ問題なんて自分には関係ないと思ってました。でも「ディマクコンダ」を聞いて、決して他人事ではないし、自分にできることは何かないだろうか？と考えました。まず、自分や大切な人の身を守り、差別や偏見をもたないようにするために、正しい知識を学んでいこうと思います。どうかこれ以上エイズで苦しむ人が増えませんように･･･。
