遂に実現!ひと夏の極上コラボレート・アルバム誕生!
UA×ジャズ界の疾走する天才こと菊地成孔が紡ぐ、スタンダード・ジャズアルバム発売&東名阪ツアー決定!

2005年10周年を迎え、another best album『Nephews』がロングセールス中のUA。
そして、デートコース・ペンタゴン・ロイヤルガーデンやぺぺ・トルメント・アスカラールの主宰をはじめ、最近では映画音楽監督などその活動を広げ続けるJAZZ SAX 奏者菊地成孔。

この二人は互いの音楽人脈をきっかけに出会い、2004年に各々のアルバムにゲスト参加。
音源制作やライブにて活動の場を共にしつつも、互いのスケジュール調整が続き、ようやく2年の歳月を経て遂に、二人によるスタンダード・ジャズアルバムの発表が実現した。

「(一緒にやることが)強烈にうまくいきそうだから。うまくいく為のジャズミュージシャン・シップがあるしね。」/菊地成孔

アルバムタイトルは『cure jazz』。cure=癒し。癒しのジャズの意味を持ちつつ、菊地(きくち)のキ+UA(うーあ)=きぅーあ。という語呂合わせも。
「OVER THE RAINBOW」といった誰しもが耳にしたことのある楽曲をはじめ、「チュニジアの夜」などのスタンダード楽曲と二人によるオリジナル楽曲の構成で、全13曲収録予定。

piano:坪口昌恭、bass:鈴木正人、drums:藤井信雄が参加。

2006年7月19日にアルバムを発表した後、FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL出演、8月からは東名阪UA×菊地成孔ツアーが決定している。

このコラボレートは現状、今回のみの企画となりそうだ。アルバムは勿論、ライブもプレミアムなものとなる事は必至であり、まさにひと夏の極上コラボレートとなる。情報は随時UA、菊地成孔のオフィシャル・ホームページにて発表される。

【アーティストについて】
音楽家/文筆家/音楽講師である菊地成孔。
デートコース・ペンタゴン・ロイヤルガーデン、ぺぺ・トルメント・アスカラールを主宰。
最近では映画「大停電の夜に」、「パビリオン山椒魚」(9月公開予定)などの音楽監督でも知られる。

2004年、UAアルバム『SUN』(2004.3.24)にて菊地成孔はSAX奏者、ホーンアレンジとして参加。
UAは菊地成孔ソロアルバム『DEGUSTATION A JAZZ』(2004.4.7)にボーカル参加。

そして2年の時を経て、二人によるアルバムがここに完成する。
誰もが耳にした事のあるスタンダード楽曲に加え、二人から生み出されたオリジナル楽曲による、新たなJAZZの世界。

jazzの何たるかは私、理解していないのですが、インターネットで少し試聴しただけで、買わずには居れませんでした。声が素晴らしすぎて、仕事の手が止まってしまう。UAは、初期の頃の作品を聴いただけで、長いこと離れていた。こんなに優れた魔物のような歌手だったなんてずっと知らずに。声、声、声。この声さえあれば、あー、怖い。今更ながら、同時に「ILLUMINATE」も買ってしまいました。

このアルバムの中で、特に輝くのは「Over The Rainbow」。この一曲を聴くために買う価値あり。UAという類まれなるシンガーの真髄が引き出されています。ジャズのスタンダードって、表現するアーティストなりに、その曲の魂に触れていればGreat,そうでなければSuck。UAは一曲、一曲を、彼女の魂を通して、我々に訴えかける。
