ジャケットが土門拳の「江東のこども　紙芝居　１９５３」である事や
メンバーの写真が彼らの幼年時代のものである事が示すのは、
原点回帰である。

原点からスタートする本作は、それまでの半生を回顧するように進んでゆき、
走り出した２１世紀に乗って２０世紀に別れを告げるところで終わる。

彼らは本作で自分達のスタイルを再確認し、
そのスタイルを携えて長い２１世紀の旅に出る覚悟がついたという事なのだろう。


上々颱風の音楽は、
「不特定多数の個人」に対しての音楽ではなく、
「大衆」に向けての音楽である。
それも、ふと見つけた飛び出た鼻毛を一生懸命抜きとろうとするような、
そういう油断した姿の想像できる「愛すべき大衆」である。

こういう音楽が作れるのは、彼らに何の衒（てら）うところなく、
そして彼らもまた愛すべき大衆の「一部」である事を
ライブ活動で体得してきたからだろう。

研ぎ澄まされた緊張感のある音楽ももちろんいいけれど、
こういう音楽に救われる部分はやっぱりたくさんある。

上々颱風は、一時期とても聴き倒しました。
曲によっては下世話。曲によっては高潔。
そんなギャップが心地よかったのです。

ところが、精神的には受け入れ切れない時期もあったのですね。
今から思うと笑っちゃうんですが。

でも、郷子さんと映美さんの声は変わっていなくって、それが、
またこのバンドを聴くきっかけになりました。

紅龍さんの毒を秘めた（時にはっきりと出しますが）歌詞も健在。
上々らしさを如何なく感じたアルバムです。

個人的には「当たり前だ節」と「朝の歌」が好きです。

お久しぶり！また付き合うからね。愛想つかさないでね。

そんな感想が自然と出る「人生派バンド」。大好きなバンドです。
