　1990年の来日時に予習として初めて買ったストーンズアルバムがこれだった。もちろん８角形でなく、ただのプラケースだった。アナログの８角形がほしかったが、バブル期は高かったので手が出なかった。今回の紙ジャケ化でようやく８角形を手に入れることができた。

　しかし聴いてみると選曲が違うことに気付いた。１曲目がジャンピン〜でなく、黒く塗れ！だったのだ。そうか、これはＵＳ仕様なのですね。しかも音が以前の盤よりはるかに良く、ミックスも違う。黒く〜などはブライアンの冴え渡るシタールやチャーリーの力強い叩きつけるようなドラム、ミックの声にも奥行きを感じる・・・・。こんなに違う印象を受けるとは！

　当初はただ紙ジャケで欲しいから買っただけだっただが、これは意外な大収穫であった。彼らの来日中、これを聴き続けたい。

ブライアンジョーンズの死は本当に悔やまれます・・・
追悼アルバム、しかも１３枚目のアルバム・・・何か因縁を感じますが・・・

とにかく６０年代ストーンズを知りたい方に超オススメ！どれも本当に素晴らしい作品です。

７０年代以降にはないストーンズの良さを味わって下さい♪

４０年ものキャリアがあれば、その都度発売されるベスト的アルバムは幾つもある。
新しければ新しいほど曲数も多く、長期にわたり網羅されている。
フォーティーリックスもそうだ。
ベスト系の購入にあたっては、お買い得感は必要かと思う。
好きな曲が多く収められているに越したことはない。
しかしだ。
いろいろなベストアルバムを聞いて感じるのは、曲数が多いから良い企画ではないと思う。
腹八分目というか、美味しいものほど食べすぎたくはない。
何度も繰り返し聴きたくなる位の曲数が丁度良い。
その意味では、まさにベスト中のベストが詰まっている。
このアルバムは、様変わりなジャケットってこともあり、
ベストアルバムとして”もっとも必要な一枚”といえる。
