布袋寅泰作曲・演奏の映画『キルビル』のテーマ曲「BATTLE WITHOUT HONOR OR HUMANITY」とRIP SLYMEのヒット・ナンバー「FUNKASTIC」をDJ福富幸宏がマッシュ・アップ(二つの異なるジャンルの曲を合わせる手法)した。“TOYOTA bB”のCM曲。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

布袋寅泰とRIP SLYMEの楽曲を“マッシュ・アップ”したシングルで、映画『キルビル』のテーマ曲「BATTLE WITOUT HONOR OR HUMANITY」と「FUNKASTIC」という双方の有名曲が融合し、まったく新しいトラックに生まれ変わっている。本作はそのロック・ヴァージョンとなるもので、おおまかには前者をベースに後者が重なっていくスタイル。もちろん、新規に加えられた音もある。単体でも楽しめるが、原曲と聴き比べてみると、この試みの面白さがより見出せるはず。ライヴにおける実演もぜひ観てみたいところだ。 (土屋京輔) --- 2006年02月号

トヨタｂＢのＣＭでかかっていた曲だけど、日本初のマッシュアップというコラボレーションと２月３日放送の「ミュージックステーション」を見たらすごく格好よかったので思わず買ってしまいました。

布袋さんの「仁義なき戦い」のテーマとリップスライム「FUNKASTIC」が合体するとこんなイケているサウンドになりますよというのが出ています。

この価格で買えるのも購入を決めたポイントでもあります。

これはヤバイです。
最初は「これまた上手い話題作りだねぇ」と感心しつつも興味無かったんですが、何気なく試聴してみたら…。
久々に来ました。全身、身震い。

キルビルのテーマとして知られる布袋智泰の「BUTTLE」、そしてRIP SLYMEの「FUNKASTIC」を絶妙にブレンド、全く新しい１曲を作り上げたのがこの「BUTTLE FUNKASTIC」です。
2曲のブレンドについて「MASH UP」という言葉が多用されてますが、これって初の試みなんでしょうか？これまでも何らかの形で「MASH UP」された曲がありそうなものですが。

とはいえホントに絶妙なMASH UP。「BUTTLE」の"でーでーでんっ♪"というインパクトあるフレーズをメインに、RIPの4トーンボイスラップ炸裂。歌詞の内容は良い感じにフザケてるんですが、それでも違和感なくBUTTLEの音に合ってるんですね。不思議フシギ。
そして後半に登場するブレイクがね、もー、もーカッコイイんです。
スクラッチプレイの後、メインで流れていたBUTTLEのフレーズが突如「FUNKASTIC」のブラスのフレーズに変わって、そこにHOTEIのギターブレイクがカットイン！
あぁ…横文字ばっかりでスイマセン。それでも表現したいこのカッコ良さ。

これは双曲の完成度は勿論、プログラミング・アレンジで指揮を取った福富幸宏の手腕によるものが大きいでしょう。彼はこの2曲の組み合わせに到達するまで、他にも沢山のMASH UPを試したそうです。
良いアレンジャーに支えられてこそ光るこのコラボ。こういった動きが日本の音楽シーンでもっと活発になると、楽しくなりそうですね。

キルビルでおなじみの音楽とＲＩＰのFUNKASTICのコラボレーション。
とてもいい感じの曲で、この値段なのだからＲＩＰファンや1回聴いてよかったと思った人は買ったほうがいいです。
Hot chocolateにも収録されていますがこちらはTOYOTAのCMのメインバージョンなので比べて聴いてみても分かりますがこちらのほうがいいです。
