このCDについて

奥田民生氏とのコラボレーションが、シングルのプロデュースという形で実現した。
昨年より製作していた奥田民生ソロ10周年記念作品である映画「カスタムメイド10.30」の主演として演じている木村カエラ。それが縁となり「BEAT」「ROCK ON」が誕生した。


内容（「CDジャーナル」データベースより）

2曲共に作詞・木村カエラ、作曲・奥田民生の顔合わせ。開始10秒でそれと分かる民生節全開の(1)は、木村が奥田に歩調を合わせたような男の子っぽい曲だが、逆に(2)では奥田が木村に歩調を合わせたようなガーリィな楽曲で面白い。コラボの妙味を堪能できる2曲だ。

ラジオの先行オンエアを録音し、繰り返し聴いている。
最初に耳に飛び込んでくる「民生ロック」全開のギターと
ベースにまずはワクワクさせられる。
シンプルだが力強く鼓動するドラム。軽快なキーボード。
そこに加わる歌声は、これまでの彼女の曲のどれとも違う、
新しい魅力を放つ。
「level42」や「happiness!!!」のように高らかに伸び上がる
のではない。「リルラリルハ」のように重いギターの中に
浮かび上がるのでもない。
低めの厚みある発声でうねるようにバンドサウンドに絡み、
一体化し、疾走する。
易々とキャッチーなサビに辿り着かない曲展開はいかにも…
の民生節だが、遥かから響いてくるようなカエラの歌声に
民生のバックコーラスが重なる印象的なサビは、ただただ
震えるほどにカッコいい。
今回も自ら手がけた歌詞は、これまでの曲と同じく等身大の
ポジティブさに満ちているが、聴き手を鼓舞する力強さを
新たに備え、民生の楽曲に一歩も引けを取らない出来栄えで、
明らかにこれが民生とカエラの化学反応で生まれた曲なのだと
いうことを感じさせる。
４曲目のシングル「ＢＥＡＴ」は、木村カエラが間違いなく
ロックボーカリストとして成長を続けており、今回も確実に
そのステップを駆け上がったことを証明する名曲だ。
カップリング曲も楽しみの一言。発売がひたすら待ち遠しい！

奥田民生調の曲が肌に（耳に）合う人は高評価
あまり好きじゃない人は低評価

この曲自体は悪くなく　ヘヴィめなロックでいい感じですが
同じライヴの中で　happiness!!!　あたりと並べると
脈絡が繋がらないように思えるし

今後もこの曲調でいくのかな？

カエラちゃんは高音がとても魅力的な半面、低音はまだパンチ不足なところがあるせいか、この曲ではいまいち彼女の魅力を引き出せないまま終わってしまった感があり残念です。
カエラちゃんも民生も大好きだけど、今回はちょっと無理があったかな・・・。
次作に期待。
