最新の物語には残酷で上官に忠実な子供たちが出てきます。子供の頃は誰もが残酷で、人を傷つけることを両親や周りの人達が止めないと、止めない。それは、その行為が、とても気持ちが良いからで、傷つけた人達のことを考えないからだと思う。僕は昔にポロポトに命令されて人殺しを行ってきた人達が、今、どうして良いか分からずに困惑している表情をドキュメント番組で見ました。これは、誰もが子供のままで要られない現実そのもので、大人になれば人を殺してしまったことの罪悪に苛まれて苦しむためだと思います。最も悪いのは命令した大人に決まっているのだけれど、それを指令されて良いことだと思って人を殺してしまった子供も、時が経てば大人になります。子供達に支配させることの愚かさと失敗はカンボジアが証明しているのだから、もちろん「レントン」と「エウレカ」の勝利を信じます。
