私は彼の大ファンだが、リアルタイムではなく、この作品が発表された年に生まれた。
どの曲が好きというわけでなく、とにかく作品全体が素晴らしく2枚組の大作に関わらず、1番多く聴いた。彼の曲で1番好きなのはトーキングブック収録のユアーザサンシャンオブマイライフだが、アルバムはこれが1番!

1976年のグラミー賞最優秀アルバム、単にソウルと言わずポピュラー・ミュージックと言わず、あらゆる音楽の中でも最高の成果のひとつである。

この前年までの45年は最も脂の乗り切っていた時期で、1975年にグラミー最優秀アルバム賞を受賞したポール・サイモンはS.ワンダーに感謝の言葉を述べている、「今年は彼がアルバムを出さなかったから･･･」。

'70年頃にムーグと出会い、また様々な音楽に触発されて、爆発的に創作し続けた時期で、このアルバムはLP２枚+EPという変則的な収録であった。それでもまだ収まりきれないと感じる充実ぶりで、かつその内容はバラエティーに富み、当時聴いた直後に歴史に残る作品であると確信した。
それほど途轍もない内容であり、聴きながら「次が出せるのだろうか？」と感じたのを覚えている。実際なかなか発表されなかった。

この2000年リマスター盤は音質がリフレッシュされていて、この芸術を堪能させてくれる。ハービー・ハンコックのエレピのウォーム・トーンが心地よい。
