はたしてこのアルバムを、YMO関連音源として紹介するのが、妥当かどうか首を傾げてしまいます。むしろ阿部薫や吉沢元治、高柳昌行などのフリーミュージックの文脈で語られるべきものではないのでしょうか。
あの時代の、思想とのコラボレーションアルバムとして。
阿部薫の「なしくずしの死」が、間章氏とのコラボレーションのように、このアルバムは学習団　竹田賢一氏とのコラボレーションアルバムであり、竹田氏のアルバムとしての側面が大きいように思います。
内容的にはあの当時のフリーミュージックの最たるもの。メロディもハーモニーも超えた音楽を創造する過程の、インプロミュージックです。
しかし、その過激さは、どうも中途半端な印象がぬぐえません。土取氏のパーカッションもミルフォードグレープ邂逅以前の、スタイルの模索中といった感じがします。阿部薫のアルバムが再発が繰り返されるのとは裏腹に、このアルバムが長い間再発されなかったのは、そこら辺が影響しているようにも感じました。

1975年8、9月録音。この年、土取氏は２枚のレコードをコジマ録音に残している。4月にreed奏者の高木元輝氏と録音した「ORIGINATION」と本作である。この数ヶ月の間に彼のドラムは大きく変化している。ＮＹでのmilford graves氏との邂逅により、彼のスネア・ドラムから響き線が取り払われ、全てのドラムは片側だけにヤギ皮が張られたピッチを重視したものとなり、フリージャズに捕らわれない「根源的な音楽」を目指すものに変化した。一方、坂本氏は当時、阿部薫氏等、日本のフリージャズシーンに集まり「東夷」や「学習団」で即興演奏を演っていたが、高橋悠治氏等との関わりからも分かる様に、プリペアードピアノやシンセサイザーの使用等、どちらかと言えば現代音楽的なアプローチで、既存概念の破壊を目指す演奏をしていたのではないか。そんな真逆とも言えるスタイルの二人のDUOが何故録音されたのか、今回の再発の解説で明らかになるのだろうか。(1)20分05秒。ドラムセットとプリペアードピアノが延々とDUO。10分程経過後プリペアードのソロ２分程、次にドラムのソロ５分程、最後に合奏。リリカルなピアノはほんの一瞬たりとも出てこない。ピアノの上に置かれた金属片がガシャガシャ、パリパリと鳴り続ける。(2)6分10秒。シンセとパーカッション。(3)13分50秒。シンセ、プリペアードとパーカッション。(4)6分10秒。坂本氏のソロで、ボイスパフォーマンスの多重録音が奇妙。さて、この音楽達を何と一括して表現して良いのか。絶対にスピリチュアル・ジャズではない。良く聴くかと言われると違う。でも、世界に飛び出す直前の、感性を全く異にする二人の若者が、ほんの一瞬激しく交錯し、お互いのエゴを叩き付けた強烈な印象の作品であることは確かである。

　よくわからん。この手の音楽、私ダメだわ。正直。しかも７０年代の音源だし。資料として持っとくのは良いかも知れない。特に教授萌えの人。
　トラック１・２は、とにかく訳わからん。３曲目、これはＢ-２ＵＮＩＴにつながる面があって、なかなか面白い。４曲目。教授がよがり声をあげてます。
