ノリントンが初めてＮ響で振ったモーツァルトを聴いて興味を持った。モーツァルトはやはり、ベーム、ワルターと思っていたのだが、ノリントンのモーツァルトも面白い。古楽器特有のヒステリックさがなく、スピードよく演奏するのに、荒くならない。古楽器＝理屈っぽいというので、聞くに堪えないと思っていたが、この演奏は、モーツァルトのまったく新しい面を見せてくれる初の古楽器演奏だった。古楽器が当時の演奏様式を模倣するという時代から、古楽器を使って新しい演奏をするというスタンスになったようだ。モーツァルトの曲が前へ前へと積極的に向かってくる感じで、ベートーヴェンに近い面も感じる演奏だが、ぜひ聴いてみると面白いと思う。
