iWorkは、keynoteとPagesのパッケージです。
Microsoft社のOfficeと対比したがる人もいるようですが、全く違うものに感じます。それは、ただ単に表計算ソフトが付属していないということではなく、それぞれの用途が微妙に違うのではないかと思うからです。

Pagesにはワープロというよりも、筆記用具のような感覚があります。使い慣れるまでに違和感があるかもしれませんが、一度使い方を覚えれば、この上なく日常業務がスムーズにいきます。
今はまだ縦書きやルビが使えないようです。しかし今後改良が重ねられ、より使いやすくなっていくことだろうと期待しています。

~さて、iWorksを買った。すぐ使った。keynoteの発表者用ディスプレイの設定がすばらしい。発表時間がとても守りやすくなる。
今のスライドと次のスライド、それに今の時間と発表が始まってからの時間が表示される。今何時か、次のスライドが何か、発表してからどれくらい時間がたっているか、それらすべてが、一目で分かる。この表示がほしかった！と、思わずうな~~ってしまった。

pagesは確かに見かけのよいドキュメントを作りやすそうに見える。

ただ、前のバージョンのkeynoteでも言えたことなのだが、日本語のフォントが少ないので、多彩なテンプレートが活かしきれない。これが、悲しい。英語の発表が多い人は、多彩な英語フォント、それに合わせたテンプレートに、とても助けられるだろう。~

デザイナー・ライクな新作『Pages』とプレゼン・ソフト『Keynote2』の組み合わせのアップル純正ソフトウエア。『Keynote』も含め今回初めて購入した。
まず、『Pages』だが、デスク・トップ・パブリッシング(今聞くと懐かしい響き（●＾o＾●）)の元祖アップルの作だけあって、QuarkXPressやPageMakerのいいところを上手く取り入れているなぁ、というのが最初の感想だった。テンプレートが秀逸でフォントのイメージや写真の傾きやカーニングをそのままに『自分自身の』ものを作り上げて行くことが出来る。優秀なデザイナーのテンプレートを.Mac等でどんどんサービス配信してくれるとより一層魅力は増すだろう。
もう一つ特筆すべきはインポート・エクスポートできる形式の多さである。しかもWordなどの文書イメージをできる限り崩すことなく読み込める。PDFへの書きだしも可能ということで、素晴らしい『触媒』としての働きもしてくれそうだ。
プレゼン・ソフト『Keynote2』の方も、インポート・エクスポートできる形式が多い。その中で特に特筆すべきはやはりパワーポイントの書き出しが出来る点だろう。今や、プレゼンテーションが新企画や新商品説明には必須のものになっているのは日常感じることだが、パワーポイント周辺のみで作られたプレゼンをみると表現力の乏しさにがっかりさせられるが(その上誤字脱字まであるとその会社やプレゼンターのレベルまで疑いたくなる)、この『Keynote2』で作成したものをパワーポイントで書きだしして、Windowsしか知らないおばかさんに見せてあげたらどんなに驚くだろうか・・・・目に浮かぶようである。強い表現力のプレゼンは他のライバルに大きく差をつける事間違いなし!値段も安く素晴らしいと太鼓判を押したい。
