アメリカのキャピトル・レーベルが1964年に発売した4枚の編集盤『MEET THE BEATLES』 『THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM』 『SOMETHING NEW』 『BEATLES '65』が、ボックス収納で登場！87年（この年イギリス・オリジナル盤が正規盤としてCD化。これに伴い各国編集盤はすべて廃盤）以来、17年ぶりにアメリカ編集盤がCDで蘇る。
各アルバム、ステレオ・ヴァージョン＆モノ・ヴァージョン両方を収録。全45曲中12曲がイギリス・オリジナル・アルバム未収録曲。48ページ英文ブックレット付き（予定）。

1964年という、ビートルズ旋風がアメリカ初上陸した記念すべき年に全米でリリースされた4枚のアルバムは、イギリスでのオリジナル・アルバムとはタイトルも曲目もジャケットも異なる独自編集盤で、本作品はそのを復刻したものだ。それぞれ、ステレオとモノの両ヴァージョンをリマスタリングした音源が収められているのだが、なかでも初CD化となるステレオ・ヴァージョンの音質はなかなか感激モノ。というのも、64年当時に出たアナログ盤独特の質感を見事に再現しているからだ。
全米中をまたたく間に席捲したその凄まじい勢いとは、一体どんな感じだったのか……ビートルズ・ファンなら誰でも、64年のアメリカにタイム・スリップして実際に体験したいと一度は思ったことがあるだろう。これは、そんな願いを少しばかり叶えてくれるアイテムといえる。荒削りなビートの中に、万人を惹きつけた魅惑のメロディと溌剌としたハーモニー・ヴォーカルとを溶け込ませたこの音楽が“世界を震撼させた”のであり、その求心力は21世紀になった現在もまったく衰えていないという事実を、本BOXで改めて実感することができよう。（木村ユタカ）
