このDVDは2002年12月、ウィスコンシン州グリーンベイで行われたコンサートの模様です。

驚いたことに、この映像の中でレイ・チャールズは、自身のヒット曲をほとんど唄わず、
トラディショナルなクリスマスソングと、それに、なんと“Oh Happy Day”を披露しています。
そして、どれもが見事なゴスペルになっています。

レイは、ゴスペルから強い影響を受けたにも関わらず、
その長い音楽人生の中で、ライブでゴスペルを唄ったことはなかったそうです。
そのレイが、晩年になって、
自らのルーツに立ち帰るかのようにゴスペルを唄っている、それだけで感動しました。

バックを務めるThe Voices of Jubilationも、非常にいいクワイアで、
この中に収録されている“Total Praise”は、
この曲をレパートリーにしている日本のクワイアにとって、いいお手本になると思われます。

ソウルファン・ゴスペルファンの方に広くおすすめできるDVDです。

ＮＪのＧＯＳＰＥＬクワイヤと共に歌うレイ・チャールズ
（ちなみにクワイヤの中にひとり日本人シンガーが！）
クワイヤの歌声の素晴らしさにも圧倒されますが
レイ・チャールズの歌うクリスマスソング！
なんてチャーミングな歌声！
あの笑顔にもう会えないなんて残念すぎます！
それから私はこの映像で初めてレイ・チャールズのオーハッピーデーを聴きました！
