買った土地に止まった人からお金を巻き上げる、言わずと知れたボードゲームの名作。
同じ色のエリアを全部おさえたら家、ホテルを建てていき、さらに土地の値段が上がるのですが、目の前にホテルがズラッと並んでいる時の緊張感はやってみないと分かりません。
また、このゲームでは交渉も重要になってきます。意地悪ばかりしていると痛い目にあいます（笑）
子供向けではありません。本気でやると２時間以上かかるので、集中力も持たないと思います。
８人までプレイできますが、４，５人が適当だと思います。仲間同士で、時間のある時にやってください。

甥っ子が毎日「ゲーム」「テレビ」「マンガ」ばかりなので押入れの中からモノポリーを引っ張りだしてきて久々にやってみたら楽しくて、甥っ子もとても気に入り毎日何度もやるはめに・・・。銀行係は幼稚園の姪っ子に任せてやっていたのですがコレが計算の勉強になるしカードのカタカナを読む勉強にもなり、また甥っ子には「抵当」「所得税」の意味を教えたりで楽しみながらちょっとした勉強になるのでいいゲームだな~って思いました。先日、旅先で人生ゲームも久々にやったのですがコレも甥っ子、姪っ子とやりいな~って思いました。

このゲームは交渉力と運で敵を破産させて富の独占（モノポリー）を目指す地上げ屋ゲーム。各マスに止まるとその土地を買う事ができ、同じ色の土地を揃えるとそこに家やホテルを建てられる。モノポリーの面白さは 交渉にある。他のプレイヤーと自由に交渉をして、土地の売り買いを行なう事ができる。このゲームは交渉の要素を初めて採り入れ、コミュニケーション力をつけることができる。

　基本的にこのゲームは人間の裏部分が露呈する。他の人間を蹴り落としてでも富を増やす欲望。まさに資本主義の縮図といってもいいだろう。中学生以上でないとなかなかゲームを理解できないが、大人ならいくらでも楽しめる。モノポリーをやったおかげでアメリカの地名を覚えることも可能。
