パルトロウ主演の映画版ではなく、
「ホーンブロワー」「キングアーサー」に出演している、
ヨアン・グリフィズ出演のTV作品です。

BBCのドラマと言えば、
コリン･ファース主演の良作「高慢と偏見」が浮かびますが、
こちらもしっかり作られている良い作品です。
テンポの良い展開で飽きずに楽しんで観られるので、お勧めです。

グウィネス×イーサン・ホークの現代版ではなく
原作に忠実なイギリスのＴＶ映画らしい佳作。

シャーロット・ランプリングの怪演を見ていると、
ほかのキャストはあり得ないと思えてきます。
ヨアン・グリフィズも、一見男っぽいのに
情けない主人公にはまってます。

時代背景やいかにも英国的なキャラクター描写は
「当時、本当にこんなことがあったんだろうな」と
思わせる丁寧なつくりで好感がもてました。

同じ１９世紀イギリスの作家でも，オーステェンとは全く違う暗い世界を描写し，環境と状況でこんなに醜くなるものだ，といつも現実に引き戻されるのがディッキンズの作品．
人間の奥底にある醜さを強調する彼の作品にも，主役ピップ以外にも純粋で綺麗な心の持ち主がいるので最後まで見る事が出来ました.

ジェントルマンになろうと夢見る貧しい家庭に育ったピップに，ある日突然幸運が舞い込んでくる．陰のサポーターは誰なのか？　子供の頃から育ての親に醜くしつけられた美しいエステラを最後まで慕うピップ.　

ミュージックも画面にマッチしてないように思えました．原作を読んでいないのでディッキンズに忠実であったかどうかは分かりません．
