　最近益々活躍喧しいI've の記念すべき１st Album「regret」が遂にamazonで購入できるようになり、地方在住者や忙しい人間にとっては大変嬉しい。数曲のみ参加の歌姫や、MELL・AKIといった古参の楽曲満載の一枚は、最近のKOTOKO色濃いI'veしか聴いていない新しいファンにとって、きっと新鮮に届くことだろう。
　

　いきなり攻撃的なバス、ドラム連打そして高速英語ラップで華々しく先陣を切る「FUCK ME」は、企画音楽CG&ED作詞作曲：高瀬一矢という伝説のゲーム「吐溜」のEDに使用したものに最初に入る「FUCK ME!」の台詞までの演出を追加した版を収録。物憂げな彩菜の声が印象的な「Last regrets」。家庭用/ＰＣの境を越え大ヒットし、その後の業界の流れを決定的に変えた「Kanon」のOPである。
　打って変わってポップで明るい「そよ風の行方」は、AKIのキュートな歌声が聴く者の心を掴んで放さない。「I will･･･」を歌うMARYは、この曲と１１曲目「CROSS TALK」の２曲のみの参加である。暗く・悲しげなせつない美しさの後者と対照的に、素直な明るい曲に仕上がっている。

　「新しい恋のかたち」は、ゲームに収録された版をそのまま使っているのだが、２分少々と収録曲の中で一番短い(後年新録した完全版が出た)。MELLの名声を弥増した「美しく生きたい」は、ピアノソロで始まり、ドラムとメロディーラインが心地よく絡み合うう上にMELLの歌声の響く名曲なのだが、一番盛り上がる間奏明けのサビに大きなノイズが入っているのは減点要因だ。
　気だるげな曲想の「Swet ~恋しくて~」が箸休め的役割を果たし、続く「季節の雫」は真夏の夜の華やぎをR.I.Eが高く歌う。「Dream to New World」はEUROBEATのようなアップテンポでノリのいい一曲。北米で数年間活躍していた高瀬氏にとっては得意中の得意、といったところであろうか。
　サビの合間に入る「WOW WOW WOW WOW~」がかわいい「One Small Day」はAKIの面目躍如。適度なピコピコ具合がまた良し。１２曲目「風の辿り着く場所」は、I'veファンを爆発的に増大させた一曲。折戸伸治の作曲に麻枝准の詩、そして彩菜の歌声を高瀬一矢の編曲が絶妙に纏めており、特に間奏に英語ラップを持ってくるセンスにはニット帽を脱帽させられる。
　１３曲目「Last regrets Xmas floor style」は、ブックレットには「Vo.彩菜」の旨記載があるが、実際は壮大な誤植で歌い手は島宮えい子である。原曲のゆっくりした曲調と異なり、テクノっぽさがかなり増した曲になっている。(余談だが、序盤の演出の人込みの音は「Change my style」でも使用されている)

最近の、ＫＯＴＯＫＯ嬢を始めとするＩ’ｖｅサウンドに惹かれた方にこそお勧めしたい１枚。それは、取りも直さずわたし自身がそうであったからである。その理由はこれをお聴きいただければ納得していただけると思う。

聴けば聴くほどに味が出る。何の躊躇いもなく、Ｉ’ｖｅサウンドであることが受け入れられる、認識できる逸品となっている。しかも、このコンピレーションシリーズ、回（枚）を重ねる毎にその完成度が増している事を実感する。

どの曲がいいのか？は個人的な見解であるから何とも言えないが、少なくとも全曲に関して、マイナス部分は少ないと思う。曲以外で強いて言えば、ブックレットの文字が小さい事か。。なるべくならば、歌詞を見ながら、詞の内容を感じながら聴いていただきたいのだが、なかなか読みづらかったのは否めない。また、ブックレットが仕上がった後での変更なのかは分かりかねるが、誤植と言うのか、実際の歌と歌詞が違っている曲もあったのは残念。

ゲーム「Ｋａｎｏｎ」のＯＰとＥＤが収録されているアルバムであるが、それを目的に購入を考えられている方には、１３曲目「Ｌａｓｔ　ｒｅｇｒｅｔｓ　Ｘ’ｍａｓ　ｆｌｏｏｒ　ｓｔｙｌｅ」をお勧めしたいと思う。オリジナルである彩菜さんの「Ｌａｓｔ　ｒｅｇｒｅｔｓ」との対比をぜひ楽しんでいただきたい。

札幌を中心に活躍するアーティスト集団「Ｉ’ｖｅ」といえば最近ではＫＯＴＯＫＯ、川田まみといった歌姫たちがメジャーになっているが、このアルバムはそれよりも前の1999年にリリースされたものだ。
このアルバムはＩ’ｖｅに在籍するアーティストのコンピレーションアルバムで、先に挙げた歌手の名前は一切出てこない。今の彼女らの名前にしか親しみを持てない人間にとっては「彩菜」とか「ＭＡＲＹ」といった初めて聴く名前が多いだろう。
しかしそんな先入観は持たずにとりあえず聴いてみると名前の知名度でしか曲を聴いてこなかった自分が恥ずかしく思える程になる。それは個々のアーティストの実力の高さがそう思わせているとも言えるが、とにかく完成度は高い。彼らは自らを「道産子ポップ」と称している。失礼ながら「道産子」というとやや野暮ったいイメージがあるのだが、それを踏まえると「道産子」とは程遠いもので、むしろ一曲一曲が洗練されている。
最近では「ｌｏｗ　ｔｒａｎｃｅ　ａｓｓｅｍｂｌｙ」を謳う彼らだが、トランス系とは違う世界観の演出の方が実に上手いと思えたのが正直な感想であった。タイトル名の「ｒｅｇｒｅｔ」とは「後悔する」という意味だが、全くそうではない一枚だ。
