　「異邦人」は、多くの方が認める時代を超えた名曲ですが、「サウダーデ」の存在を知らなかった私にとっては、ポルトガル録音のもう一つの「異邦人」を聞いた時は鳥肌が立つ程、興奮し感動しました。また久々に聞いた「夢語り」や「天界」などの彼女の初期のアルバムに収録されていた曲は私を学生時代へとタイムスリップさせてくれました。特に「葡萄樹の娘」は、アレンジがとても凝っていたことを発見させられました。古い順番に曲が収められているこのアルバムは、エキゾチックで幻想的な時代から大人の女性へと変貌し、なおかつもヨーロッパ志向へと変わっていったことがよく分かります。

よくこれだけ名曲ばかり入っているなと関心させられてしまいます。
「異邦人」はもちろん「夢飛行」「九月の色」「最終便」「ねがい」
「天界」「ピアニッシモで…」「アルファマの娘」「上海ノスタルジー」は秀作で関心させられます。大陸的、異国情緒、洗練され歌詞．．．「カリスマ」という言葉は本当はこの人の為に存在するのでは．．と感じられる力作です。

デビュー曲「異邦人」が大手電機会社のＣＭに採用されるとともに、ＴＶのベストテン番組でも毎回１位に登場するほどの大ヒットを記録し、‘時の人’となってしまった久保田早紀さん。
このベストアルバムではシングル曲に留まらず、アルバムの名曲も選りすぐって収録されていて、稀に見る傑作ベストアルバムに仕上がっています。
特に、「アルファマの娘」や「４月２５日橋」はポルトガルで現地ミュージシャンと共に録音したアルバム「サウダーデ」の知る人ぞ知る名曲。「ネフェルティティ」「シャングリラ」もアルバムの佳曲です。もちろん、シングル曲の「異邦人」「２５時」「オレンジ・エアメール・スペシャル」もいい。「異邦人」があまりにも大ヒットしてしまっただけに、偏ったイメージで評価されることになったのは残念でした。もっと長いスパンで評価されてもいいシンガーだと思います。
もし、このアルバムで久保田早紀の素晴らしさを垣間見ることができたなら、彼女のアルバムで、特にポルトガルで半数を録音した「サウダーデ」（現在、ＣＤ入手可能）を全曲聴いていただきたいものです。ここには彼女が本当に求めていたであろう音楽が凝縮されています。
