最近、過去の漫画をアニメ化することが流行っているようですが、手塚治虫の作品がもっとも多いのではないでしょうか。
劇場公開作「メトロポリス」、「ジャングル大帝」を筆頭に、2003年に3度目のTVアニメ化となった「鉄腕アトム」等など・・・。

どれも現代的な味付けがされていて古さがなくなっている上に、原作自体が素晴らしい事もあって、どれも傑作になっています。

「マグマ大使」は「ウルトラマン」のような実写怪獣ものとして過去に映像化されていますので、そのイメージが強い方も多いかと思います。

しかし、原作は「火の鳥」のような壮大さと、「バンパイヤ」のようなエスピオナージ、それに海外のSF小説のようなインベーダーSFでして・・・・海外映画でいえば、「V」のような名作。

原作は、「神」のごとき圧倒的な力を持つエイリアン、「ゴア」に蹂躙されていく人類と、人間の尊厳を懸けて戦う人々、それを助けようとするマグマ大使を描いた感動作なのです。
このアニメーション版は、その原作のストーリーを非常に大事にしながら、アクションや人物描写、メカなど現代アニメの粋を凝らしたために、すごい傑作になっています。

過去、手塚アニメは「24時間TV~愛は地球を救う」向けにいくつか長編を出してますし、劇場公開作もかなりあるのですが、それらの中でも最高水準だと思います。
まず後悔無しの名作ですので、お勧めです。

　マグマ大使といえば、江木利夫の守役。これは、はまりだった。「マグマ大使」ピロピロピーと三回。アニメでも、有名なこの音楽。「アースが産んだ正義はマグマ・・・」感動でした。アニメは、一瞬、ジャングル大帝かな？と連想させるようなシーン。僕の中では、ジャングル大帝は、ジャングル大帝というなんか、ポリシーみたいなものがある。やたら、ルーツにこだわる。マグマは、一少女の死から生まれるとは・・・なんかピンとこない。おじさんになった証拠かな？怪獣の出る場面が少ない。また、人間モドキ。これは惑星の異性人という設定。納得いかない。また、守が、アース、アース、マグマ、マグマという呼び捨てに納得がいかない。ウドーの鬼。ウド鈴木か？出すぎのような感じだ。
　しかし、しかしです。手塚治虫のいう世界はクリアしているように感じた。地球を汚した人間は、もう一度地球をきれいにする（要旨）は是非これからも実施していかなくてはなりません。おーい、実写版のマグマ大使よ、お願い来て！！！ピロピロピー、ピロピロピー、ピロピロピー。との願いを受けて、ついについに、０９年、３月に発売になります。感動感動大感動です。
