達郎氏の2ndアルバムにして最高傑作と言えるアルバム。
緻密なアレンジと村上ポンタ秀一や細野晴臣･坂本龍一･佐藤博etc…
素晴らしいミュージシャン達による緊張感溢れる名演、
そして内省的でナイーブな吉田美奈子の歌詞と達郎氏のメロディ。
素晴らしい。
特にアナログ版で言うところのB面の流れ！（アンブレラ~きぬずれ）
穏やかな中に激しさを内包し、まるでメドレーかの様に引き込まれる。
絶対買って損の無い名盤であると推薦したい。

ＲＣＡ／ＡＩＲ時代に残した旧譜７タイトル（"CIRCUS TOWN","SPACY","IT'S A POPPIN' TIME","GO AHEAD","MOONGLOW","RIDE ON TIME","FOR YOU"）の同時再発のひとつである。新しいファンはもちろん、同タイトルのＣＤやＬＰをすでに持っている達郎フリークもこれを買うべきである理由は、「デジタル・リマスタリングで音が良くなったこと」、「ボーナストラックが付いていること」以外にも次のような重要な理由がある。

それはライナーに「現在の」山下達郎自身による書き下ろし「解説と曲目解説」が収録されている点である。
これは一種、回顧録のような形で語られ、アルバム制作当時の裏事情、山下達郎氏の心境などが証される。当時の音楽界の「時代の雰囲気」を伝える、非常に興味深い読み物になっている。

本作「スペイシー」では主にレコーディングメンバーの選定に関して述べています。氏の音楽的指向性から選んだ当時（今も）一流のミュ!!ージシャン同士に漂う緊張感のようなものが語られています。

個人的に達郎氏の中で一番好きなアルバム。聞けば聞くほどこのアルバムの素晴らしさがよくわかります。地味なアルバムなんですが、この音楽は永遠だと思います。
