今はなきＧＭＯレーベルから発売された、今はなきＳＮＫの最初のゲームミュージックアルバムの再発盤。
私の中ではＶＧＭ、いや、今まで聞いてきた全てのアルバム中でもベストといえるアルバムです。

最初の「怒号層圏」クレジット音~ナレーション~１面ＢＧＭで一気に感情は昂ぶり、最後の名曲「ＡＳＯ」“サンセット”で幕を閉じるアルバム構成は完璧で、一切の隙もありません。

唯一残念なのは、「ＴＡＮＫ」で本来モノラルな音を意味もなくステレオで左右に振っているところで、太鼓（ドラムスというより“太鼓”）の迫力を殺いでいます。これさえなければ本当に完璧だったんですが。
まぁとにかく、古き良きＧＭが詰まっているので、その辺が好きな方は聴いてみてください。

　'80年代中期のSNK作品、怒号層圏/アテナ/TANK/怒/ASOの５タイトルを収録したアルバムです。ちょうどFM音源が使われ始めたころの作品ばかりで、全体的に音色に統一感があります。

　しかし、曲だけ取り出して鑑賞するにはちょっと物足りない感じです。TANKシリーズの３作は当時流行した戦争を題材にしたゲームの雰囲気を多少なりとも味わった人には、それなりにニュアンスは伝わると思いますが、その他の作品となるとやはりゲーム本編の方に思い入れがないとツライでしょう。

　この時代のCDの復刻は、その昔Beepのソノシートをドキドキしながら聴いていた世代には感慨深い物があり、中には若い世代のGMファンにも是非聴いて欲しいと思える音楽性の高い物も少なくありません。ですがこのアルバムに関しては、元のブームを知らないならやめておけといった所です。まちがってもKOFがらみで興味を持たないこと。
