原作の「ジェーンエア」を読んだ方、この作品は本当に原作に忠実です。
セリフなど多少の違いはあっても、ほとんど原作通りに出来ています。
主演の、ティモシー・ダルトンや、ゼラ・クラークは熱演で、さすが！と
うなってしまいます。原作を読んだ事の無い方でも、1800年代後半のイギリスの生活を垣間見る事が出来て、おすすめ度１００％です。

イギリス古典文学のTVドラマ化です。
不遇な少女時代を過ごしたヒロインが、家庭教師としてお屋敷で働くようになり、主人ロチェスターと恋に落ちるのですが、このロチェスターが謎めいた複雑な過去を持った人物で、ハッピーエンドに辿り着くまで波乱に満ちています。単なるラブストーリーではなく、ゴシック的要素も楽しめます。

原作の雰囲気をそのまま映像化しているので、原作ファンもガッカリすることはないでしょう。キャスティングが最高で、現代的で芯のあるジェイン、情熱的なロチェスターが、見事に表現されています。

欠点をあげるとすれば、制作が80年代と古いので、撮影の問題(屋内セット撮影シーンがちょっと安っぽい感じ)があります。美しい映像に慣れている今ですと、映像面で物足りなく思う方もいるかも知れません。

素晴らしい出来ばえの作品です。Timothy　Daltonのロチェスターが最高に良い。少々ハンサムすぎるが、演技で（そんなところまでも）カバーしている。
その後撮影した俳優さん達に見せてあげたい。原作に忠実なのも良い点だと思う。
