毎年11月になると、このアルバムを聴きたくなる。
そして、クリスマスを過ぎてもカーステレオで聴き続けるのが常だ。
人恋しくなる季節に、収録曲の大半で聴ける荘厳かつ温もりのある
達郎さんのアカペラコーラスが心地よい。

クリスチャンではない日本人が賛美歌やクリスマスソングを
歌う意味を、達郎さんは自らのルーツミュージックへの
リスペクトを通して見事にクリアされていると思う。

流麗なオーケストラアレンジが楽曲のよさを引き立てる03.,
賛美歌のメロディの美しさを再認識させられる04., 15.,
クリスマスとは関係ない曲ながら、すばらしい出来の05.,
世界的に有名なクリスマス・スタンダードに負けない
クオリティを感じさせてくれる、かの大ヒット曲の
英語ヴァージョン・13.　など、佳曲揃いだ。

私的には、数多のクリスマス・アルバムの中での
ベスト・オブ・ベストが本盤である。
そしてまた、世界に誇れるJ-POP の名盤と言えるだろう。

恋人同士で聴くのはもちろんのこと、家族で楽しめるアルバム。

エレガントの一言に尽きる！
フルオーケストラもアカペラも、スタンダードポップスも讃美歌も、ため息が出るほど美しい！
これぞカヴァーの本来あるべき姿。山下達郎を純金とすれば、昨今のカヴァーブームに乗っかっただけの若いミュージシャン達は全員メッキにも値しないですね。
しかもリリースは10年以上前。次元が違いすぎます。

一人アカペラというジャンルにおいて唯一無比な完成度はもはやレビューする必要はないだろう。

このクリスマスアルバムが素晴らしいのは、発売からすでに１０年が経過したが、どんな年の冬に聞いても必ず聴く人の心を暖かく包み込んでくれることだと思う。それはすごいことだ。オーケストラをバックに響く、山下達郎のふくよかな歌声。街角で、部屋で、一人で、家族と、もちろん恋人とでも。

今年のクリスマスに暖かい気持ちになりたいすべての方へ、是非。
