ライクーダの奏でる旋律、間、すべてが体にしみ込むアルバムだ。
オープニングの音も中の台詞も何もかも繰りかえし聞いたはずなのに、聞く度に胸がぎゅっと締め付けられる切ない音のコンポジション。
あなたが既婚者で小さな子供を持っているのなら　是非映画を見てその後に併せて聞いてほしいサントラ。世紀を超えて色褪せない一枚だ。

ヴィム・ベンダースのロード・ムービーそのものもいいのですが、このサントラ盤も十分聴きごたえがあります。冒頭の「パリ、テキサス」のギター。これだけでアメリカ南部の風景が目に浮かんでくる。「なつかしき人々」は映画のシーンをそのまま持ってきているのだと思いますが、こうして聴いてみるとハリー・ディーン・スタントンとナスターシャ・キンスキーの語りが音楽になているから不思議。
