日本の夏、金鳥の夏、サザン。でも、この国の夏ってのは、楽しいばかりの季節じゃないですよね。お盆。原爆、そして、終戦の記憶。セミの声に混ざりながら、どことなく死の匂いがただよう、うら悲しい季節でもあります。

さまざまな理由で死んでいった故人たちと自分との絆を（それが死別に限定した歌ではないにしろ）思い出させてくれるなにかを、このアルバムの中の『慕情』という曲は持っている、と思います。

このアルバム最高です。
有名シングル「涙のキッス」や「シュラバラバンバ」はじめ、ＣＭなどに使われていた曲が盛りだくさん！！

私が一押ししたい歌は、「せつない胸に風が吹いてた」です。

桑田独特の雰囲気に包まれたこの歌。バラードなんだけど、スロービートでなく、かといって詞を呼んでみるとその名なのとおり何だか切なくなってくる何ともいえない素晴らしい歌です。

天才桑田が繰り出したクリスマスソングも一番最後に入っており、とにかく何度聞いても飽きのこない名曲ばかり。

サザンファンでなくとも買いですよ！！！

サザン’９０年代最高傑作(オリコンアルバムチャート４週連続１位、’９２年年間アルバムチャート７位)。
サザンとしてはシングル「みんなのうた」、アルバム「Ｓｏｕｔｈｅｒｎ　Ａｌｌ　Ｓｔａｒｓ」「稲村ジェーン」の所々で断片的に絡んできた職人・小林武史氏とガッチリ絡み合った最初で最後の作品。よってアルバムの完成度としてはサザンの作品の中では最高峰に位置するのではないでしょうか？
サザン流’９０年代ファンクＭ−１、メロディアスな曲調に桑田氏の鋭い歌詞が光るＭ−３、隠れた名バラードＭ−５、原由子ボーカルによるサザン流歌謡曲Ｍ−７、クリスマスソングながら歌詞が実に重厚なＭ−１６等、すべての収録楽曲がシングルでも可能な程ハイクオリティです。アルバムより先行する形で２枚同時リリースされたＭ−１１(カップリングはＭ−１４)、Ｍ−４(カップリングはＭ−９)はオリコン１、２位を独占。これは史上初の快挙でした。特にＭ−１１は７週連続で首位をキープ、サザンのシングルとしては初のミリオンセールスを記録しました(’９２年オリコンシングル年間チャート５位)。
