ヤングブラッズを聴いたとき思わず鳥肌ものでした。
真夜中、車の中で聴いていたら、なんだか胸が熱くなって涙がでそう
になり思わずとばしてしまいそうでした。

冷たい夜にさよなら

私が元春のファンになるきっかけになった作品。なにかに悩んでいる人は『Strange Days』を聴いてみて下さい。当時はLP で聴きまくりました。しかし1月の間に新譜と旧譜の紙ジャケをこんなにたくさんリリースしてくれるなんて本当に頭がいたいです。

世紀末頃だったか矢沢永吉がニューヨークで在ニューヨーク邦人を集めてライブを行ったことがある、もちろん満員で盛りあがったらしいのだが、その場にニューヨーク・タイムズの記者を呼んでいたのである、翌週のライブ評に記者の書名記事が載った、「ヤザワはロッド・スチュワートのパロディのようでとても商売上手、数年後にはグランジ・ロックを演っているだろう」と見事に矢沢の一面を言い当てた皮肉の聞きすぎた内容が掲載された（New York Timesのサイトで検索可能）、

その記者に倣えば、ミスターチルドレンならエルビス・コステロのパロディ・バンド、浜田省吾ならジャクソン・ブラウンのポップ版、長渕はブルース・スプリングスティーンの悪夢のような猿真似などと書く可能性が高い、

では佐野はどうだろう？
本作が佐野の代表作であることは多くのファンが認めるところ（評者自身は"Visitors"を最も愛聴している）だが、本作と同時期に一世を風靡していたイギリスのバンド、スタイル・カウンシルの２枚のアルバム、「カフェ・ブリュ」と「アワ・フェイバリット・ショップ」から殆どのアイデアを引用していることは紛れもない事実、一般に邦楽ファンが洋楽にはほとんど耳を貸さない現実から誰にも指摘を受けないだけであろう、「ヤング・ブラッズ」とStyle Councilの「シャウト・トゥ・ザ・トップ」を聞き比べることを佐野の大ファンである人にこそ奨めたい、
