ウルトラセブンシリーズのＤＶＤを買うのに，何枚か持っていたいだけならＶＯＬ.１は不要，という意見もあるようですが，私はむしろ，ＶＯＬ.12の次に買うべきなのはこのＶＯＬ.１だと思います。諸星ダン登場の第１話もさることながら，やはり第３話「湖のひみつ」が魅力。確かにストーリー的にはセブン的なマニアックさが少ないとも言えます。しかし，セブンの中では造形の上で最も出来が良い怪獣エレキングが登場しますし，ミクラスも頑張っているし，何よりも，地球人の男性はかわいい女の子に弱いのですから，「湖のひみつ」があるだけで，ＶＯＬ.１を買う価値があると考えるセブン・ファンは私だけではないはずです。

ウルトラマンの後を受けてウルトラセブンが始まりました
しかし内容はウルトラマンとは違いました
ゆえに視聴率の低迷に悩みました
時は流れて
ウルトラセブンは続いています
地球を愛した宇宙人というコンセプトが受け入れられたのです
ダンは晴れて地球人になりました
記念すべき作品の開幕です

ウルトラマンマックスを子どもと見ていると、エレキングが出てきた。しっぽで巻き付けて電気を流すシーンがユーモラスだったので、初代もこんなだったかな？と比べてみたくなり、買いました。
他にも、ダンがセブンに変身する仕方がその度に違うなど、新しい発見もありました。
子どもと一緒に見るのが楽しみな第１巻です。
