ザッパを知ったのはこのSheik Yerboutiだった。当時はもっとマニアックなイメージがあって、メタル好きだった私には「とてもじゃないけど聞けない」と思っていた
しかし、聞いてみたら最高！本当に楽しかった！テリーボジオがドラムしながら歌い、エイドリアンがボブディランの物まねをし、ザッパが超スケベな歌詞をねっちょりと歌う（笑）

さらにこれが、（ほとんどの曲がオーバーダビングしてあるとはいえ）ライブなんだからすごい！！衝撃＆笑撃を受けた歌モノではザッパの世界に入りやすい一枚として、おすすめ♪

アラビア風の服に身を包んだザッパが印象的な１９７９年の作品。世間一般にはザッパの最高傑作といわれています。最初なじめなかった私もじわじわ虜になりました。ですので、安心してください。

エイドリアン・ブリュー、テリー・ボジオ、パトリック・オーマン、トミー・マーズ、ピーター・ウルフなどがこの時のバンドメンバー。テリー・ボジオがいる事でロック色が強いことは明白ですが、凄まじくタイトで洗礼されたロックの演奏が聞けます。
このメンバーでの演奏として、このアルバムが最高の出来であることが誰もが認めるでしょう。

歌詞はかなりエッチなもので、英語が分かると演奏そっちのけになるかも・・・（笑）。
個人的にはパンクをパロって、テリーボジオに無理矢理自分のアホさを暴露させちゃってる”I am so cute”がマジに笑えます＾＾

このアルバムは、今は亡きフランクザッパの金字塔。ハードロックあり、ジャズあり、タンゴありプログレありの怒涛の展開をみせる聴かせる満腹になる贅沢な逸品。このアルバムを初めて聴いたとき、ひと月毎日聴いて飽きなかったほどの作品であった。最後にライブの音を重ね、ザッパのメンバー紹介が入り、「Ｇｏｏｄ　Ｎｉｇｈｔ」でしめくくるＬＩＶＥ感の暖かさが伝わってくる。従来のロックに飽き気味の方にオススメします。１９７９年のザッパは、この他にジョーのガレージなど５枚の傑作アルバムを発表。１年に５枚のアルバム製作は、尋常でない。
