であると僕は思っています。ブランキーファンの中では「C.B.Jim」など初期作をフェイバリットに挙げる方が多いように思うのですが、僕にとってはずっと、これがナンバーワン。

ブランキーほどのロックバンドであれば、単純なロックロックした曲ばかりが並んでも充分かっこいいだろうに、まるで職人肌のポップバンドの作品のように、バラエティに富み全く飽きさせない内容になっていながら、全てが一聴してブランキーだとわかるロックばかり。さらに、ベンジーのメランコリズムの極点の１つであろう、歌詞も素晴らしい。

かき鳴らされるギター、トランペットの悲鳴、ベンジーのシャウトが響き渡り、最後に、余りにも美しい１２弦ギターの調べに包まれた「海を探す」で終わる。完璧。

プラネタリウムのかき乱すようなギターから始まり
その後高速で強烈な『PUDDING』が入り
ベンジーの動物園での翼を切られた伯東鷲への回想
その後、スパゲティ、キャンディ、ガソリンの3タイプの曲の後に
『デニス・ホッパー』そして『海を探す』と。
曲の流れが完璧。
レンタルより買うことを勧めるね。

このＣＤに関しては楽曲よりもまず「音」に耳を澄ませて聴いてみてほしい。
凄まじい生音の迫力がこのアルバムの骨子となっています。
ドラムをやってる弟もこの音源のハイハットの鳴りを絶賛していて、
「まるで打ち込みみたいに均一で抜けがいい」と言っていました（この例えはどうかと思うけど）。
六弦弾きの俺の意見を言えばギター音はもっと凄い。コンポに無理矢理シールドを突き刺してギターを鳴らしているかのようです。
この臨場感はスタジオ盤としては随一といえるんではないでしょうか。初のセルフプロデュース作品、一番やりたかったことはコレなのかもしれません。

楽曲はまさに捨て曲なしの粒ぞろい。ブランキーのイメージをより深化させた作品郡といえ、初めて聞く作品としてもいい感じです。
地味だけども自分が一番好きなのは「感情」。歌詞は例によってベンジーのセンスの面目躍如。珍しく直接的な表現です。
前期の突っ張った不良少年的なモチーフは後退し、ロックシンガーとしてより純粋な感性を表現している今作。前期より個人的には好きです。
スリーブ内のベンジーのポートレイトを良く見て下さい。カッコイイんだけど、垂らした前髪から実は見開かれた目が覗いていて非常に怖い。
威嚇しているようにも、何かに恐れているようにも見えます。
彼のこの感性を「繊細」と呼ぶのは間違いで、「ロックの感性」と自分は呼びたいと思う。
日本のロックのオリジネイターにまた一つ出会えました（今更ながら）。

１０年前の音源ですが純粋なるロックは風化などしません。胸を張って名作といえます。
