{メンフィス・セッション}として名高い69年のレコーディングを再編集した2枚組CD。ディスク1はそのセッションのベスト的内容。ディスク2は未発表の別テイクやスタジオでのやりとりなども収録して構成したもの。音質的にも申し分なし。貴重盤。

エルヴィスがシンガーとして見事な復活を遂げた68年の通称“カムバック・スペシャル”の音源は、昨年暮れに『タイガー・マン』『メモリーズ』の登場により、ほぼその全容が明らかになったが、その翌年の69年、故郷メンフィスのアメリカン・スタジオにて行なわれた伝説の名セッションの模様を、未発表8曲を加えて新たに編集したのがこの2枚組だ。この時のセッションからは、『フロム・エルヴィス・イン・メンフィス』『バック・イン・メンフィス』という名盤2枚と「サスピシャス・マインド」などの大ヒット曲を生み出したが、本作の[1]は、それら既発音源を新たに編集し直したもので、[2]は、未発表の別テイクやスタジオでのやりとりを収録し、現場の雰囲気を見事に再現した構成だ。南部系の名セッションメンらの強力バックアップを得て、スワンプ感覚を加味したエモーショナルなヴォーカルを聴かすエルヴィスのカッコ良さといったら!
