   1996年に「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」を発表し、センセーションを巻き起こしたGAINAXの第1回制作作品。庵野秀明が作画監督に、平成「ガメラ」シリーズの特技監督・樋口真嗣が助監督として参加している。
   湖のほとりの王国・オネアミスには30年の歴史を持つものの、現在では闘わない軍隊と化している王立宇宙軍があった。人工衛星も満足に打ち上げられない軍に、シロツグ（森本レオ）の宇宙への夢も遠ざかるばかり。そんなある日、街で神の教えを説く不思議な少女リイクニ（弥生みつき）と出会ったことで、彼は仲間の反対にもめげず、宇宙パイロットに志願してしまう。かくして王立宇宙軍の、威信と名誉をかけた有人宇宙船打ち上げ計画が開始された。
   制作当時24歳だった山賀博之監督は、困難を乗り越えて宇宙へと旅立つシロツグの姿を、独自の姿勢と手法でアニメ制作の道を切り開くGAINAXの仲間たちと重ね合わせている。演出はシロツグたちの生活ぶりのシチュエーションを細かく積み重ねた後に、クライマックスのロケット発射でカタルシス炸裂という正攻法を用いている。（斉藤守彦）

オープニングの森本レオの「語り」、
坂本龍一のセンスのいい音楽、
そして、なんともいえない世界観・・・。
いろんな要素が絶妙に絡んでいてたまらない作品。

特に、オープニングに流れる坂本龍一の音楽は
私が小学生の時に聞いて以来忘れられず、
このDVDを買うきっかけにもなっている。

この映画は興行的には失敗に終わっているものの、
それは「風の谷のナウシカ」も同様で、
興行収入のいい映画が必ずしも「いい映画」ではないことを示している。

この作品はいい意味で地味であり、観れば観るほど良さが出る作品。
独特な世界観を楽しんでほしい。

この作品は、何かに行き詰まり自分の心が汚れて
いると感じた時に必ず見ています。今回は３年ぶりでしたか
もう10年になりますか何回も見ています。
覇気のない主人公が、動機は不純であれ、何かに打ち込み
変わっていく様子が自分にも覇気を与えてくれるような気が
します。特に宗教には興味はないのですが、神という存在は

本当は、無いのでは？本当の神は自分の中に正しく生きる
生きようとするモラルの中に存在するのでは？と毎回見る度に
思ってしまいます。もしこの作品を見て共感できる方が居れば
幸いに思います。ストーリーだけではなく、終わった後も
考えさせられる作品です。（音楽は坂本龍一のファンだけに大好きです^^;）

AKIRA位に安くなればいいのに…

内容はGAINAXが制作したとだけあって映像、音楽共に秀逸
安ければ★5つですね 再発願います
