「鍵盤の帝王」とは神舘和典氏の形容だが、テクニシャン・オブ・テクニシャンが奏でるスタンダードの名演集だ。 ワルツィング・イズ・ヒップ 、 サテン・ドール、 わが恋はここにと続く素晴らしくスイングする華麗な演奏は思わず拍手を送りたくなる。とくに、不思議の国のアリスでは可憐でかわいらしいメロディが徐々に弾むように盛り上がっていき圧倒される。ピーターソンのあまりにもポピュラーで陽性な音楽はマイナー好みの日本人にはやや眩しいのかもしれない。それでも時には王道を歩む円熟のピアノを聴きたくなる衝動は止められない。
