思うに、バッハの「無伴奏チェロ組曲」という作品を演奏するチェリストたちは、カザルスの演奏を模範とし、また、それを乗り越えようと、力を入れすぎているのではないだろうか。ダニエル・ミュラー=ショットの「無伴奏チェロ組曲」は明晰な演奏が魅力である。その演奏が秀演なのかどうかわからない。ただ、私は、ショットの「無伴奏」の6つの演奏を通して聴いても全然疲れない。彼の技巧は安定している。彼の解釈、演奏に、おそらく「深遠」という形容は当てはまらないと思う。しかし、彼の無伴奏チェロの「重苦しさの無さ」が私には心地よい。2000年録音。
