プログレを聴き始めて早30年。もう心を動かされるバンドなんてないと思っていた矢先にこのバンドの存在を知りました。半信半疑ながら聴いてみましたが、大当たり！
サウンドの濃さ、派手さ、複雑な曲の展開といい、プログレの王道です。2枚組みという長編ながら、曲調が明るいので、楽しみながら聴くことができます。
本作品はプログレ界の代表作ともいえると思います。

フラワーキングスの最高傑作。
その練りに練られた構成に、２枚組というボリュームが必然であったことがわかる。
ディスク２ラストの２５分におよぶタイトルチューンに仕掛けられたトリックに気づいたとき、目の前に桃源郷が開けたような眩い感動が待っている。

プログレッシブロックの様式美を引用しつつも、その卓越したメロディセンスにより、様式美の枠を超越している。
シンフォニックロックが到達した、ひとつの頂点であることに間違いない。

良曲が多く、構成もしっかりしている。個人的にはフラキンの魅力を一番伝えるアルバムだと思います。
曲数は多いのですが、半分は「つなぎ」の曲なので、メインの曲は半分程度です。

まずディスク１．いきなりハードなエッジで引き込まれる１。かっこええです…
そしてお得意の壮大・感動的な曲調の４。たまりません。
６．も小曲ながらしみじみした味わいが良いです。メロディも秀逸。
７．はディスク１最後の大曲。これは個人的にはいまいち。最後に９．で不気味に締めます。

ディスク２では、神秘的な雰囲気をひきずって始まる１。
打って変わってめっぽう明るくはじまる３。お得意の曲調ですがこれもフラキンの魅力の１つ。中盤のバロック調な感じも良い。
６、７．とポップな曲が続きます。このへんもいい感じですね。
そしてなんとも意味深な曲の９．
とにかく色々な曲があり飽きさせません。構成もダラダラせずしっかりまとまっています。

また「つなぎ」の曲も、終曲１１．のフレーズを一部使用して、長いアルバムに統一感をもたせています。

そしてなんといってもラスト「Stardust We are」！山超え谷超えやって参りました。
３部構成の曲で、この曲だけで２５分もあるのですが、第１部と第２部はちょっと単調か？しかしこの長い前振りがあってこそのラストとも言えますね。
第３部は、感動的なサビのあとガンガン盛り上げていきます。ライブバージョンでは、ここで盛り上げたまま終わってしまうのですが、アルバムバージョンは、いったん盛り上がった後一度落ち着きます。そして再度感動的にピークを迎えた後、静かに消え入るように終わります。曲の完成度、満足感としてはこちらのアルバムバージョンのほうが数段上ですね。
最後の最後、ピアノが、「キーンッ！」と打たれるところ。まるで星が１つ空にキラッ、とまたたいたような…
これを聴くと「ああ、終わった」と深い満足感にひたれるのです。

しかしなにしろ長いアルバムなので、あせらずゆったり聴くのがよろしいかと思います。
ハマる人にはどっぷりはまれる、素晴らしいアルバムです！
