　柴田直人が自らの音楽的ルーツをまとめたカバー・アルバム。

実は、柴田直人がANTHEM以外のことをやっているという事実に物凄い違和感を感じていた当時にこのアルバムを聴くことは、柴田の音楽そのものを味わうという意味では楽しかったけれど、別の意味でいくらかの痛みも伴っていた。だって冒頭からこの曲で森川之雄と一緒に歌われたりした日にゃ、思い切れてないANTHEMファンは泣くしかないでしょう。ブックレットの中ほどにある本人のコメントに添えられた「LOUDNESS NAOTO ON BASE」のサインにしても同じ。見ると辛いからコメントだけ読んでその下には眼をやらないようにしてたぐらいだ。

しかしANTHEMが完全復活を果たした今、このアルバムはリラックスしたいときに聴く定番アルバムになった。言わずもがなの(1)、「Neon Knights」でなくこっちを選ぶところが渋い(2)、甘く爽やかなVo.がモダンで、オリジナルよりいいんじゃないかと思える(3)、ムーグ好きにはたまらない(8)、クラウス・マイネが程よく再現された(10)、ベーシストの底力発揮の(11)等々、もう何も心配せずにほっこりと安心して聴ける、最後の仕掛けもまた心憎い癒しの一枚です。

そのくらいの名盤かと思います。個人的に直人さん贔屓だし音楽的指向が似通っているのでいいと思うのも当然ですが、それにしても選曲といいそれに合わせて選んだプレイヤーといい…素晴らしいの一言!オリジナルよりもいいんじゃないの?てな演奏も多々あり。1曲目なんて何度聴いたことか。ディープ・パープルで6を選ぶセンスっていいな♪12曲目のオリジナルよく聴いたから感激ですね〜直人さんの歌もなかなかのものですよ。リッチー・ブラックモアと言えばこの人!になってしまいました小西昌人さん。ソックリなだけじゃなく13曲目はじ〜ん(涙)…。
