映画ラウンド・ミッドナイトのサントラ盤。この映画は、バウ・パウエルをモデルにデクスター・ゴードンが主人公となって実演したジャズ映画。これほどジャズの素晴らしさを伝える映画にはめったにお目にかかれない。大男ゴードンが繊細な演技を見せれば、音楽がこれまたなかせるRound Midnightをはじめとする名曲・スタンダードの連続。Body And Soul、How Long Has This Been Going On?、Berangere's Nightmare、Fair Weather、Rhythm-A-Ningなど硬軟取り混ぜ飽きさせることがない。ジャズの素晴らしさと悲しさを感じさせてくれる凝縮アルバムである。
