音質がなあ・・・もう少し何とかならんかったのか・・・
エイジアの2作目は、ファーストアルバムで「このプログレメンツが？」と世間をあっと言わせたポップ路線を更に推し進めつつも、随所に魅せるインタープレイなどで、まさにプログレ畑出身ならではの曲構成を聴かせる一方で、その美しい楽曲の数々（捨て曲なし！）がぎっしりならんだ、ファーストに劣らぬ名盤です。しかし、ミックスが・・・なんていうかポップ路線を狙ったためか、ぼんやりともやのかかったような音像で、私のような、各パートのインタープレイも存分に堪能したい向きには非常に不満な音質です。もっと各楽器の粒立ちがくっきりしたミックスであれば、間違いなく星５つです。でもいいアルバムには違いないですよ。

１stほどのインパクトはないものの、よりポップになったアルバム。これも素晴らしいできです。なお、相当売れたにもかかわらず、1stに及ばなかったということで、その責任をジョン・ウェットンがとらされたんだそうです。それで、日本公演ではグレッグ・レイクに突然メンバーチェンジしました。当時は、またウェットンの悪いくせがでたのかと思っていましたが、商業主義に振り回されたんですね。お気の毒に。そのため、３rd以降、急速にパワーダウンしていきます。

　プログレッシヴ・ロック界の大物が集まって結成された「スーパー・バンド」エイジアの２作目。このメンツからは想像もできないポップでストレートな作風が逆に評判を呼び、デビュー作「エイジア」は1982年No.1ヒットに結びついた。
　続く２作目となる本作は、更に楽曲のコンパクト化が進み、またラヴ・ソングの比重が多くなっている。プログレッシヴ・ロックのファンは、スティーヴ・ハウが作曲に関わらなくなったことを問題視しているようだが、正直、スティーヴ・ハウの書く曲はそんなに良くない。クオリティを重視して、ウエットン/ダウンズの曲オンリーに統一したという。
　実際、全10曲、一切捨て曲はなく、最初から最後まで楽しめる名作に仕上がった。ファースト・シングルに選ばれた「Don't Cry」は特に素晴らしく、ポップ系の女の子のファンにまで支持を広げた。
　当時はレコードだったので、A面、B面が存在したわけだが、両面の最後の曲だけは多少演奏が長くなっており、プログレッシヴ・ロック仕込みのテクニックを（少しだけ）見せつけている。
　尚、カセットテープ版には、ボーナス曲「Daylight」が収められていた。時代がCDに移行し、長らく廃盤だったが、このほどベスト盤に追加収録されて復活。今では手に入れられるようになっている。
